PE harvest time? Pic. 1

I got (4) shoeboxes of PE going and I’m not quite sure when to harvest. Got some good size ones that definitely look ready. But too many small ones attached. Don’t want to loose any potential good fruits. My last PE grow was a total failure. This one is going OK. Usually when I do GT I have a very even pin set and harvest all at once. Rehydrate , get ready for 2nd flush. I don’t think that’s the case with this grow.

Now seems like a good time to harvest. Those boxes look good. Well done!

So you would harvest all at once?

One idea is to wait till the caps begin to change color. A cap will become a much lighter shade of brown just before veil breaks. You prol can't selectively harvest just the biggest ones, things are too cramped. Hard to monitor PE's veils so better to use cap color as indicator of maturity? These PE caps were just the same color as yours a day before harvest...

So, I think you're at least a day early to harvest. Lots of the little fellows will be as big as the current biggest in just one day. PE doesn't drop enough spores to dirty up the fruit. If it were me I would hold out for 20% more weight.
Looks great, good job.

Once the top part of the stem becomes all squiggly, they stop growing.
But I agree with Mr. Sock - now is a good time to pick

Thanks for the response. I’ve decided to get agar ready for a clone tomorrow. Harvesting tomorrow.

Tomorrow works too. You can wait but it probably isn't going to increase your yeilds.

Squeeze test. Ime When you gently squeeze an envy and it’s no longer firm but soft,, it’s harvest time

Ok. So cap color and squeeze test. Thanks for the info guys. A little off topic question. I had a PE agar plate I left unused produce an in vitro pin. I transferred to a new plate. Made (3) transfers from that plate. Do you think it’s a better culture using the in vitro pin plates for my next grow? Or get some clone plates going from THIS grow pictured above?

True. I like to devote my time to what I feel will give me what I’m looking for. But! I’m not doing a damn thing right now. Sooo.

I’d wait til it stops growing although it might just be adding water weight. My last PE run I was gonna harvest one morning and got sidetracked and when I came back in the afternoon some of them were like an inch longer. And I thought they’d been done for a day or so.
But yeah cap color and stem squishiness is the best way ime.
I’m liking the PEu type crimped cap on some.
For some reason my PE always have a reddish tint until they go light.

I would definitely let those go longer. Some of the larger ones are pretty close to being done, maybe, but there is a ton of medium sized ish pins that will blow up...
The stems bulging out and getting wrinkly is a really good indicator as others have said, same with them starting to feel slightly soft. The caps will open up more too but not like normal cubes.
IMO I think you should give it another 12-24 hours at least

Definitely take a clone from a fatty cluster
You will be rewarded

The invitro pin may produce epic results too though. I would clone both.

Just PE according to the vendor. I started with (4) BRF cakes I shredded into a shoebox with coir. Only got (3) or(4) fruits and a bunch of blobs. No second flush at all. I cloned the (1) big fat fruit it did produce. Worked it out on agar-> whole oat jars. (8) jars to these shoeboxes. And finally some success.

Will do. As of this morning they seem to still be getting bigger. I’ll get some pictures this afternoon.
