Oh yeah cant forget drugs.
The internal work i did in my teenage years on MULTIPLE mushroom trips (i picked shittons ofthem from age 16-18 when i graduated, thats how i found the shroomery to help with identifying) was huge in developing myself.
I would have these mind-blowing revelations about myself or others, or how people interact or how im interacting with people ...shrooms would give me this super perspective where i could see myself think/talk/interact and judge it accordingly. .allowing me to improve and become the person i wanted and thought myself to be.
There was SO MUCH personality work and improvement those years... Now i get that a little bit...but my trips are usually like on this cosmic scale now. Entities and strange epiphanies that fuck with the universe until i forget them...

I'm thankful shrooms work for me too.
There's something about alchohol , that really messes with me. It's to the point where I just dont drink at all now.
I dont think it helps very many people.
I'll go years without it and start up again. I learned never again.

On a serious note I believe like most things a select few truly have it to the point of diagnosis and most are using it for other motives.

Hell yeah, I'm sure a LOT of my weirdness is from so many drugs, but a lot of my normalcy is too. I feel like they gave me a lot of tools to cope and grow, not just drugs, but the passion around them. To learn and teach myself and think critically.
I also feel like I learned to be normal, but even then, normal has been weird and I've always had trouble with making & keeping friendships. I've learnt to embrace the weirdness, I like it, but aspies does explain a lot of past behavior.

It's why I like the Asperger's definition in the DSM-IV, because I don't think I could call myself autistic. I feel it hasn't impacted my life enough to call it that. I do wonder if I'm just weird and I just have stuff in common with people with Asperger's. I don't know, and there's no definitive test, but I trust my psychologist enough to take her word on it.
