Who buys dishes to not use for agar tho. Most people already Bitch about price and availability just to use them for what they're for

I did this a couple weeks ago in one of my old 60mm glass dishes, for no particular reason, just to be able to gaze upon it's beauty. I've always thought it would make a nice pendant or something.

1 print from a cap that fit perfectly in a 60mm dish. Fucking art man!

Very cool!
It is art. I marvel at its beauty and easy-of-use when I need to make a syringe. Its too perfect. Wish I would have thought of this years ago!

Thatd be cool. I think they sell glass panes at craft shops. And If I ever needed some spores, just pull it off the wall and use.
But whats nice about the Petri Dish is I can use as art OR making syringes. Versatile, which I like.

While we're sorta on the subject, for some time, I've wanted to "build" a large petri dish with a couple glass panes, like 2'x2', inoculate, then seal the edges with clear silicone. I want to see what mycelium looks like running free for a couple feet. It would make a great coffee table or interior window between 2 rooms like an aquarium.

interesting, foil is so convenient though. I’ve had caps deposit their spores directly into syringes before, but that’s if you don’t mind MS.
That’s the most convenient method imho.

Yeah or you can print on a piece of acrylic and do a clear acrylic pour over it. Like spray it with a workable Fixative so the print stays in place. Then do an acrylic pour over it.

That sounds interesting. So you pulled out the plunger of the syringe and printing into the syringe body?
Acrylic pours would be very cool for spore prints. Great idea Would super-glue work as well?
Im definitely scrapping my spore-printing jar idea. Petri Dishes FTFW.

Basically, yes. Backloading the spores into a syringe was by far the simplest and quickest way for me to quickly make a stock pile of MS syringes that I had/have various uses for. If you do it, although I’m unsure of the necessity of this step but I find it in step with good sterile tek, I do it in a SAB and have cover the fungi cap while it drops, and if super sterile, one can use a cap from a mushroom that’s been in a essentially closed jar since inoculation. But like I said, not sure on this part, but used to do it just in case. Also have done it the quick and dirty way and have never had a problem thus far.
Done right- it’s quick, clean, and effectively skips a few steps. And you can mass produce this way , if you want.
I inoculate a lot of random things in random places....within reason.

I did not, but I could post pic(s) of a staged/reenactment version of the practice if you really want. It’s basically how you would imagine, but ...for you guys I’d do it. Hah.

Why would you remove the plunger from a sterile syringe? This seems like a bad idea. Like if your looking to get a clean syringe with spores. You would need to really work hard on the sterile tech.
Harvest before the veil breaks. And clean and print in a sterile glass in a SAB, but you would have to remove the veil with a sterile scapel in the SAB.
