striate is referring to the lines/grooves on the stem.

edit: you are talking about the white powdery substance that gives the stipe a pruinose appearance.

Yeah... I'm not really knowledgeable in the different terminology as I said. I picked the wrong word from the wikipedia paragraph obviously

Hey guys! Thankyou for all the info! Based on the discussion I decided to go grab another from the same patch to examine it, picked one about 2 inches from the original. Stalk was mostly red before being touched(I hadn't looked at the original before picking it so I couldn't be certain if that coloration was bruising or not), gills were a little darker. I did notice a little white powderyness but only at the top of the stalk, not sure if that's what tacodude was talking about, and it was a very small amount, seemed to fall off with handling. Will update with pictures of the new one after the spore print is finished! I'm excited to see that there's such interest in grass based panaeolus. I've always loved things with a weed-like growth habit, something about their uncontrollability, so seeing so much interest in what could be considered a weed species of mushroom is awesome.

Can you take a picture before picking it next time? It could be a cint if that's the case
