So I dunno if anyone needs a mask but you can apparently get a KN-95 here for $3. Use discount code "1STLOVE" for free shipping on your first order. I have no idea what the deal is with that store but they're based in California and I did get my order promptly. Supposedly you can test your mask at home but I only got one and I don't want to fuck it up if it's authentic. I figure it's no worse than the cloth mask I'd be using otherwise, so I'm just gonna roll with it.
Also, if you have a Samsung Galaxy S5 through S10, or Note 4 through Note 9, just a heads up that your phone has a built in pulse oximeter. Unfortunately it's disabled via software in certain countries (Canada is one notable example). But here in the USA and some other international locations, you should be able to use the Samsung Health app to take a "Stress" measurement and it will tell you your heart rate and blood oxygen level. The specs list the accuracy as ±2%.
Anyway this concludes my Saturday night COVID tips post. Have a great weekend and stay safe everybody!

"The broad-scale testing took place at the shelter in Boston’s South End a week and a half ago because of a small cluster of cases there.
Of the 397 people tested, 146 people tested positive. Not a single one had any symptoms."

What are the chances that 146 people who almost certainly have some of the most grave comorbidities have zero symptoms. That’s just not consistent with covid. Something very bizarre is going on. Maybe there is a mutation in this virus that has redndered it essentially harmless that is silently spreading. Or these tests are junk.

If this is a mutation that causes no illness we need to let that spread like wildfire.

Is it possible a good chunk of them are just pre-symptomatic at this point in time?

Most mutations that would render a virus harmless would do so by making it non-infectious. But it is certainly possible an infectious virus could also cause sub-clinical infections.
It is certainly possible that their tests or their testing facility is contaminated.

They need to redo the tests using another source
We know that in the US 4% of those who test positive die. These results are essentially statistically impossible

The 146 people who tested positive were immediately moved to two different temporary isolation facilities in Boston. According to O’Connell, only one of those patients needed hospital care, and many continue to show no symptoms.
So some of them are now showing symptoms and two needed to be hospitalized.

Wait is that bad or are you joking?
As someone who just bought a pulse ox, and has been using it to fuel my hypochondria, this is a serious question.

We need to open Covid Farms. I think the most profitable way out of this is to charge people for monitored infection. With specific closed groups we can have a 14-21 day cycle. We can capture a swab from a known source. I’m sure someone in here will be capable of running a culture on Agar.
We can save the original “strain” on a slant, and inoculate selected groups. We would need to insure spread of the virus in a controlled environment. A simple swab to the nose from the original culture; and casual sustained contact, could prove effective.
As we create an immunity we can then send workers to the front lines. We need warriors!
Viruses are fucking crazy. By “killing” a virus broken strands of DNA can attach and take the little protein packet of info and recombine with another virus. Tons of crazy info to read on that and that’s all viruses. Totally normal everyday thing, so nothing to panic about.
Anyway there is no hiding from this. We will see this go through our population no matter how much we trick ourselves into a false sense of disconnect.
Use this time afforded, to inoculate yourself. Don’t hide and wait until you are unable to afford treatment.

ya unless you're dying tho who is going to pay thousands to even step foot near a doctor in the US to verify what you had. Like I -think- I had it with mild symptoms a couple months ago but I don't know.
