LC test input
    #26611406 - 04/18/20 07:55 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

What’s up Mushie Cult,
I just tested 4 of my LCs on agar and this is my first run with them. I used 1g of LME to about 500ml of water and PC’d for 20 minutes. I throw up some pictures of jars and agar but jars look excellent clear gold ball sized mycelium floating in water from what I heard this is what you want. My question lies in the agar test? I had to throw out 3 jars because they grew bulls*** on plates so these are the survivors. But on the plate there looks like condensed sugar where the liquid was with some mycelium colonies, could these be yeast or is it the LME and these jars are good to run through grain lmk what you think?

Each plate corresponds with the plate in order of line up. Another thought could this sugar build up be due to not enough agitation before inoculation? I’m only shaking and maybe need invest in magnetic stirrer?

I cant really see whats going on in those plates tbh.

As for stirrer you can use a marble as long as you remember its in there dont go busting your jar open when you instinctively go to shake it that first time.

If money aint no thang then a magnetic stirrer is nice to have especially if youre using more than a few quarts a week of lc ya know

A chunky shard of glass works well too.

Appreciated. Is it possible just have sugar deposits on the agar. Because on one looks like their slowing evaporating, ya found one on amazon for 30 bucks figure just get it and then just buy the bars throw in each jar shouldn’t be too bad. Thanks.

I used to have that one from amazon the blue one ? Didnt last a week. The one in the list is like $52-55 from happybuy is the shit. Plus it doubles as a heating plate to keep agar from solidifying when your catching up to it cooling as low is around 135f
