I asked for gypsum and I got garden lime

Hi to all the shroomers in lock-down.
I've got the pressure cooker ready to go, BRF PF recipe all measured, and the final ingredient gypsum - I'm like crap - it says garden lime on the bag. The bag has calcium carbonate as the only listed ingredient.
Your advice please, my first-time attempt, can I use the lime, or can I go without gypsum? It says lime raises the pH but gypsum doesn't?
This for BRF cakes, not bulk substrate or casing.
Thanks in advance.

Lime will raise the pH which you don't want. The gypsum is mostly to absorb moisture and reduce clumping (it does add some nutes but they won't be missed)
Since you've got it ready to go, I would skip the lime and do without the gypsum, unless you feel like knocking a hole in some drywall around the house and using that (drywall = gypsum and I'm kidding about doing that) If you go for it, you might reduce your water by about 10% to account for no gypsum. Too dry is always better than too wet
Good luck and post back here to let us know how it went

Awesome Stallion,
I'm heading up into the roof cavity to find an off-cut of what we Aussies call GYPROCK - drywall.
Wish me luck, thanks for the tip.

Nice! Just use the same amount you were gonna use and crush it into a fairly fine powder.
BTW, greetings to you in the down under! I tried an Australian wine the other day that my son gave me called 19 Crimes. I thought it was good but the cool thing was, if you view the pic of the convict on the label with your smart phone, he would come to life and tell you his story. I thought that was pretty cool.
Good luck!

So, the update. No offcuts, the guy who installed our airconditioner was too neat! Fancy that.
Being a first-timer, I got obsessed and removed a skirting board, cut out some gyprock and I'm back on track.
Nice fine powder

Oh yeah, it was definitely enjoyable. It was a pretty strong tasting red and I'm no wine snob or anything but I thought it was good.
It was this one. It didn't say what his crime was but he wasn't locked up long before he managed to escape and catch a boat to America where he did ok for himself

Did you really pull up the baseboards to cut a chunk of drywall from behind them? That's dedication. I give you a A for effort for sure. would have most definitely just skipped it I have 2 80lb bags of pelletized gypsum and don't use it half the time.
That wine seems really cool. I don't drink wine but I would like to get my wife a bottle just so I see the label on my cellphone thing and heat the story. No more spoilers stallion lmao

It seems like he really did. That is a pretty awesome thing to do.
I've noticed watching some Australian TV shows that we use a lot of different words for things...so what exactly is a skirting board anyway?

19 Crimes makes beer in cans now too. I’ve only had the IPA. It’s pretty good.
