When discussing a species of mushroom we often get into the conditions that cause that certain species to fruit.  The weather is of course one of major factors involved, so it's sometimes brought up.  Posting the local weather report tho is a different thing all together.  It's up the us to use the knowledge of why and apply it to the spots we go to.

As far as all the other rules .. I'm sure a moderator could better explain what they think is crossing the line.

I see. So anything that could be used to specify a location or isn't a generalization of the conditions its not appropriate. Thats reasonable and clarifies things for me.

So basically threads begin with a picture of the species then discussion proceeds to fruiting conditions and other related topics.

Does anyone know of any studies on Aluminum or Manganese accumulation in mushrooms from substrate? The one wild patch that I’ve found is along a stream that has periodic issues with these metals from mine leaching. I’m not too concerned about health issues after reading up on toxicity levels etc but I’m just curious. Thanks

Maybe that’s why I got ignored completely lol. PM me if you don’t like rules. This is a really strange thread :coolcat: like a whole other subset of shroomerites that only pop up during the ovoid season : )

I plan on using the site more as I study and hunt other mushrooms, I have to admit I'm one of those who pop up so far. I just want to make sure I stay within the expectations of this forum. Love the group. Would hate to get booted.

@The Abhorrent Chef,  There hasn't been any official observations in that area you were asking about.  You may have better luck over along the Potomac if you can't find the habitat closer to the bay side.  There's def a chance for you to find them tho.

I didn’t mean that post in a bad way lol, though looking back it may have come off wrong. I’ll definitely keep searching around. I don’t expect them anywhere near the brackish waters but you don’t need to come far in at all before all that’s left behind.

There was a shroomerite in the recent past who drove about a 1,000 miles to find ovoids so yeah, traveling a bit here and there to get in the right habitat is sometimes necessary.

Break a leg.

It’s worth the trip if they aren’t local, you can bring some stem butts and mycelium back and get them going in your area, these spread real easy like.

It would def suck. Fortunately that wasnt the case and it warmed the cockle to see him find a decent amount.

My bad for the derail.

So I was the noob a couple pages back that found my first couple ovoids, which was yesterday. I've eaten psilocybin mushrooms a handful of times, and have always eaten 3-3.5 grams dried. Saying that, I will never give anyone any advice on mushroom dosage. Especially after I ate my equivalent of .75 grams fresh to dried. I Spent 4 hours fighting my way back to reality!! Which in the end turned out to be one of the greatest experiences of my life!! I know this aint a forum for trip reports. But for finding my first ones, I shared the experience with you guys, and I wanted you to know the rest of that experience. And I went way further than I could have ever imagined. I can still feel them in my being. Will post pics of my next find. Thank ya'll

Yup.

“I’ll just eat these three medium ones.” Then you spend four hours holding on the the armchair so you don’t fall into the void

The mushrooms know what you need. I truly believe I could ate the smallest one I found and I would have experienced the same exact thing.

I took a trip last year down to Virginia and Maryland cause i couldnt wait for the season to start, it was worth it tho, enjoyed our harvest on the beach.

I will drop some info for you noobs, if you go to a website like mushroom observer many of the posts list the general location or even exact gps cordinates where mushrooms are found. I have been wanting to vist a amusement park in pa that has ovoids growing in all the landscaping however it is far from where i live. For some of you it might be right down the road...
