How do we attract better new members? 5

I feel like the quality of new members has been really low the past few years. This doesn't apply to everyone obviously, but I feel like the overall quality of new members has taken a nosedive.
So how do we attract a higher quality of new member?
The only thing I can think of is to advertise the shroomery a little more. By pulling in more people total, statistically some of them are likely to be higher quality. But the problem is that we're likely to get many more low quality members as well by doing so.
The other thing I was thinking is: how is the experience of being a new member different today than it was maybe 10 years ago? I feel like maybe something has changed with the experience of being a new member. Maybe they're more restricted or something than they once were, or maybe we're not as inviting or something somehow.
Anyway, I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the subject.

As someone relatively new I’d say I can tell pretty quickly when I come across a member who generally only creates “noise” on the forums and I tend to scroll over or lightly skim over their future posts. Overall, they’ve never disturbed my experience of the Shroomery because it seems that some “low quality” element is inevitable in any online environment.
There are members on here who stand out to me because they consistently contribute interesting ideas or insights. This keeps me coming back because it adds to my day and life overall.
In terms of attracting better quality new members, I’d say it would be best to do what’s possible to retain the quality posters by elevating the discourse in the community in general. I feel low quality posters and noise makers are best ignored. The ones constantly poking or flaming others seem to seek and be energized by negative attention.

I have a movie script that I believe will one day be made into an Oscar award winning film. Or we can turn it into a Netflix documentary.
Sheekle started out as an unknown, small time poster. Had a meteoric rise to shroomery stardom, followed by a swift downfall. This arch happens in all great comeback for the ages stories.
Sheek, after being permabanned, slides back into the community, unnoticed and with a completely new persona and identity. And then in time, quietly, eventually climbs to being one of the most powerful mods in shroomery history. Where only on his deathbed will he reveal the truth that it was him all along.
I'm still trying to figure out who I'm going to get to play the lead role of sheekle. Jesse Eisenberg perhaps.

Can we buy bumper stickers?
--------------------
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

I've been spinning a cardboard sign on the street for a couple weeks that reads;
JOIN THE SHROOMERY! COOL KIDZ ONLY!
The sign is aight but I think my King Kong costume that I'm wearing is what will really weed out the losers.

It might be intimidating for new people coming here in the pub too. It's kinda like walking into a place where everyone knows each other and you're the new guy. Added on top of that we don't have the PC protections and safe spaces that many younger people have come to expect from the internet.
Most of the younger generation want flashy apps and instant comms, not involved conversations and online communities. Shroomery cannot compete with Fuckbook and Instracrap. There's just not the mechanisms built in to provide dopamine hits by getting likes and trending. The conversations are limited to what is being discussed also, the isn't just an endless feed to mindlessly scroll through. Forums gave birth to these social media monsters, things aren't going to revert.
One thing we could do, to make the place less intimidating is hide the registered date next to people's usernames, just leave it in their profile page. Then people won't feel like a noob for at least 5 years.
Most forums are dying though, but in some ways the shroomery is timeless. People will always want to grow shrooms so they will always come here, it's just the art of making people from cult forums feel more welcome to express themselves in the pub, maybe.

I'm a relatively new member (less than a year). I feel that it takes a certain kind of person to join and then stay to contribute to the community.
I'm not tooting my own horn here, I'm just saying that there is always going to be newbies and probably a lot more with the exposure of shrooms on streaming services (and a lot of free time to watch atm) and the whole microdosing thing growing. But i feel that this place has more to offer than just learning how to grow a few shrooms.
I wanted to get started asap but realised like everything in the world that you need to be patient and earn your place.
By joining in on threads that interested me i feel helped pass the time until the 90 days and 50post count was reached so i could get access to the market place but it also helped me learn so much info on growing teks and how far i could go in this hobby.
Not everyone will imbrace it like i did but if they want to stick around and become better members then exploring the site instead of just trying to get high is a great way to do it.
Or maybe I'm just a mid 30s adhd guy going thru a life crisis. Quote:

That's all I got. Or we can do like the Nexus and have an overly long and complicated questionnaire to answer, which doesn't matter at all, and then just vote in the people we like. Lol.
