adding YERBA MATE TEA to GRAIN SUBSTRATE

today I was preparing some grain spawn for some jars and usually I add coffee to the water that I let the grain soak in for 20 hours or so. today when I was making the grain I added the coffee but then saw I had some Yerba mate tea bags and thought that maybe that would be good to add to it too. So I did. Has anyone ever added tea to their grain substrate before? if so what did it do if anything? I will update on how well it works as I find out.

The grain itself already has more in it than the mushrooms will use. Amendments like that are more useful for farming mold and other shit than what you are trying to grow.
I mean tea will likely not hurt but you be hard pressed to convince anyone a noticeable difference was made.

I tried adding tea to my grain boil a while back. Tea has antibacterial properties. It also restricts the growth of fungi/mold.
I didn't have bacterial issues, but had mold issues. The fruits were odd too, thin, weak necks, all the caps were hanging upside down. Meh.

I just did a little research on the topic and it looks like (at least with oyster mushrooms) that it is a helpful additive. I'm going to be trying it with lions mane mushrooms.
using tea waste for substrate

Some edible mushrooms are ravenous. I find it hard to fuck up with oysters even when you try. Our cubes are unfortunately not quite so forgiving.
