I'm new are these cubes?

Habitat:
I just spotted these (see pics) growing near where my trash goes in a mulched area.  Mulch is from the county green waste recycling program. In Santa Barbara, CA.  Its been raining some recently.











Gills and Cap:
See pics but caps whitish,  more yellowish in middle.  Yellow stem. Gills whitish yellow.  Gills yellow tanish.

Stem:
1-2 inches, , yellowish,


Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

No, they are not. Cubes don't grow in California.
