What does it mean when the pins stop growing larger and the caps turn brown?
    #26607121 - 04/17/20 01:50 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hi everyone! I’m noticing this happening a little too often where it looks like I will get fruit, but the pins just stop growing and turn darker until they become mush. Is this an abort? Why is it happening and what should I change? I included a picture of what I mean. These haven’t fully turned brown, but I suspect this is where it’s headed since they haven’t grown larger in 3 days. The caps have only turned more brown from the usual gold color.  This is what remains after I got my first flush, which was decent. The stragglers are doing this. I’m afraid not knowing what this means or what to do about it is decreasing my yield.

Aborts will usually turn darker red to mostly black. Brown should be indicative  of a healthy pin.

Fix that pic

I fixed the pictures!

If I leave them on for a few days they will become black and mushy. Right now they’re still brown but I recognize the beginning of the process. They haven’t grown at all since I picked the first flush. I was thinking to remove the aborts (if that’s what they are) and then dunk and try for second flush. Still, I want to know if this is being caused by something I’m doing wrong. I’m sure I can learn something from this.
