Need help identifying mushroom found in North Georgia, psilocybe weilii?

I'm in the Greater Atlanta area and went forging for the first time to get a nice walk from the COVID-19 quarantine. I came across these mushrooms off a pine tree while researching native mushrooms. I think its Pluteus americanus. I read that the Pluteus cervinus is the deer mushroom but I'm confident this is the Psilocybe weilii or the Pluteus americanus psychedelic mushroom, correct?
I need someone to help me out please
Thank you!

It's a pluteus for sure. I don't see any bluing, though. The colours are quite different on the outdide photos..

I'd call that a p.cervinus. Not 100% sure. Not even sure what colour the cap has 😅 But I'm fairly certain it's not active.

Not active. Pluteus Cervinus seems likely. And you won't find weilii fruiting from logs

The photos were bad but I got one decent one. I think the smaller one might be a shroom tho?
So because its darker that means its psychedelic?

No. They are not active. It's just beginning to dry out

They're both the same species. Inactive pluteus, probably p.cervinus. Colour has nothing to do with psychoactivity (unless it's staining blue or green, that is).

Not really. But on this link you can find what active species that grows in your area: https://www.shroomery.org/12257/North-America
Good luck! 🍄

Im actually in north ga myself. I'd advise you to look through old GA active threads. Lot's of good information there. It's mostly pertaining to weilii, though there are other actives sprinkled in there as well. Hoping for a bountiful season this year. Good luck!

I will definitely be looking at old threads and just a question, is it time to start looking?

It's never not time to start looking. You can find at least one of Georgia's active mushrooms every season of the year. Good luck on your search!
