Bruising of the cakes?

So this is my First harvest of my first grow. So far I’ve harvested from 4 of my 12 cakes. 6 are b+’s and 6 are GT. To be honest I mixed up the two so I can’t really tell which is which. All went well with the harvest, but today when I was looking at my cakes. I’ve noticed that some of the cakes are bruising in areas. Now I’d assume this is from the stress of harvesting the shrooms but one cake hasn’t been harvested yet. I don’t think it’s cobweb mold due to the blue hue but I could be wrong. Was wondering what could be causing the bruising if it’s not mold and if it’s okay or not. Thank you for taking time to respond!

It’s bruising from being too dry.

Shit that makes total sense. I’ve been trying to rely on the humidifier that comes with the midwest grow kit And it was reading at 99% humidity at its peak, but apparently that’s not doing it. I think I’ll just disconnect the humidifier and set up the air pump to just blow air for FAE and start misting again. Thank you very much kind stranger. Blessings of Julianos upon ye.

yep, definitely from being too dry. You also want to touch your cakes as little as possible (you are destroying the hyphal knots). Blessing of Sai be upon ye

Thank you for letting me know about damaging the H knots. I didn’t even think of that. Definitely will be more careful in the future.
So I kinda have a little conundrum. I was getting paranoid when I first set up the Tek (from Midwest grow kits) and I read somewhere that you want to drill holes on all six sides two inches apart. Which is true for some Teks, but not mine.Thankfully I only did it on the 4 main sides but ever since then my FC has had a hard time with humidity. Last night I taped up every other hole on the two main sides and it’s much better at keeping humidity now. Should I give it some time to get dialed in to the change or should I tape up the holes to try and keep as much humidity as I can in the chamber while just relying on fanning 3x a day for FAE?
Thank you for any advice you have.

The holes seem useless if the bottom doesnt have them with wet perlite.
Thats kinda the SGFC method.
I think its mateah who has a tek with like a bucket and a wet towel.
I prefer just using bulk sub. Easier and works better.
Fuck perlite... Shits a royal pain in the ass imo.
Cant say what to do, do what works.
Figuring it out is you becoming a good grower.
Just make small changes and give some time to observe and see how it impacts things.
When i first started seemed i would change too many things too quickly and never saw the impact it had. Micro managing can fuck shit up
You want max FAE without sacrificing humidity
Easier to limit fae and slowly increase imo
Where did you find this tek? I woukd use teks from here that are still relevant and with people using them now and getting results

Thats a good point. Didn’t commit to drilling holes on the bottom seeing as perlite was already in chamber when I started drilling. I was going for a SGFC without realizing the Tek I bought was a different one needing no drilling.
I think seeing as it’s holding a good bit of humidity I’ll leave it be and hope for the best I’m gonna quit being a hover parent jumping at every little thing. It’s all a learning experience in the end. Thank you for the advice!

You could probably try bottom watering too, idk how dry those cakes are. Not sure if thats part of the reason for the aborts
You have fruits though so thats something

Didn’t even think of bottom watering. I’ll make up a few tin foil bowls to use when the cakes feel dry. Thanks man. I appreciate it.
