I've found some of you on the Facebook group. I am curious about you opinion of how safe it is to even talk about ovoids on there but the people there are going to get themselves killed. I'm no expert by any measure especially compared to some of you old heads here, but I know enough to help them not die. Is it stupid from a personal point of view? Morally and ethically its right to educate and help, but Facebook makes me feel much more vulnerable than on here, not that this is safe either but regardless.

We got snow here yesterday only for a few minutes tho. Last week we had snow, hail and a tornado. Crazy weather my dude

I went out for an hour or so yesterday (first time in wild areas) I found them starting to pin pretty much everywhere I looked. Some were in places that I haven't seen them in 4 years. I think that the mild winter coupled with the lack of torrential flooding rains this past year have created what could be a bumper crop this season.
I couldn't post pics because admin. failed to re-up my supporter account...working on getting that straightened out.

Mostly just pins. These guys had some mud on em because it flooded and they where underwater a few days ago.
I left the mature ones because i didnt wanna take a chance on getting pulled over and arrested for a single mushroom.

Depends on the rain. Last year there was only one flush because it was so wet and things rotted super fast. The season only lasted two weeks

That sucks. I was lucky and was able to pick in the wild all of May and mulch pits until close to the end of June. I hope this year makes up for last year.

Ah I see I see hopefully this year we can have some dry out time between rains I’ve found tons of mature fruits but this is my first year finding them and haven’t found really anything about flushes

Bro I feel you. I was just lucky this week that they started popping here but its mostly smaller pins. Enough to hunt but not what I'll see next week. This rain coming Friday should help a lot. Add on the warmer weather starting this weekend and its game on. I know it makes you anxious right now, but the good news is that even stalled pins means it has begun and your only a matter of days away.

Glad to hear it, man. I know it's been a bit of a rough go for you the last couple of years. Hopefully its bountiful. We've had a very good start in VA, the best in years.
It was between flushes yesterday at a new spot thats adjacent to a spot we hit five days ago. Saw hundreds of pins that depend on it not freezing too hard tonight.
Also revisited a spot we selectively harvested last week. Some of the pins we covered with creeping charlie were larger, but many of the other fruits we left were snagged by someone who came behind us at some point. Whoever it was did a good, clean job of foraging so no big deal and thats the way it goes sometimes.

Good to hear things are good down your way! I really doubt a minor freeze hurts these guys other than maybe to slow their growth a bit. They're pretty hardy little mushrooms.

Yeah, just the cool weather recently slowed em down big time, but I hear you about the freeze.
There is only one spot I'm concerned about since it's out by the foothills and routinely gets 3 to 6 degrees colder than at my house.
Not concerned at all about any pins east of me. The garlic mustard and nettle are knee height over near the fall line and will protect any pins, beside it not getting as cool over there anyway.

It snowed where I'm at and got down into the 30s.. How do you think this will affect the oncoming flushes and also how long do you think the peak season will run for? Could I find them all the way into the summer?
