Dehydrator Tek?

I've seen a lot of posts teaching people how to create dehydrators for free or use fans but what if I have a legit dehydrator? I saw a popular thread that said that he prefers to dehydrate his mushrooms for 24 hours but he didn't state on what dehydrator or if he had a specific setting. Then I saw a few comments on various different threads saying that they do 4-6 hours on a legit dehydrator.
Which one is it?

I do 24 hours on the highest setting - I think thats 160 on mine. You want cracker dry. I've had batches sit in a jar for over a year with zero potency loss doing this method.

I go for as long as it takes on max heat which for mine is 158 but its a rear element/fan like an excailber and dries very quickly compared to my round tray dehydrator which takes about twice as long.

You have to figure that out on your own. Always better to overshoot tho.

I dont know of any teks but the best way is thru practical application!
For example, try drying a small batch of shrooms with High heat settings for say 6hrs, then check if the shrooms are dry. Then do another 6hrs and check again. Repeat as necessary.
Shrooms are very resilient to heat. I think the highest u can go is like 350F or something.

Don't over complicate - it's 24 hours on 160°F, more if they're fat. If you don't even know how to work a dehydrator how do you think you can be correct in assessing if fruits are fully dry.
Recipie for disaster trying to do as little as possible.

Q: How long? A: As long as it takes to achieve "cracker dryness" Definition of "cracker dryness" - when you bend a stem it splinters or cracks in half.. there is no bendiness at all.. same for a cap.. zero moisture left.
How many fruits you're drying, how big they are, and what equipment/settings you are using all affect how long you will need to dry for. Typically you cannot over dry, only under dry. My crappy passive dehydrator with all 5 shelves overflowing takes days to dry my fruits with me switching around trays every once in while to dry evenly.
Any kind of excessive heat will negatively impact potency, but shrooms are pretty forgiving. In either case i favor passive drying with just dry warm air, rather than too much heat.

Being moist for days will affect potency way more.

Mine only has on or off, no temp settings.
With smaller shrooms they’ll be done in 4 hours, but I’m talking small like few inches tall like the close up pic in my signature.
How long depends on how full the trays are and how big the shrooms are. If I’m loading the whole dehydrator up I’m doing at least 20 hours.
What I do is let it go til I think they’re about done, then take some of the biggest ones and weigh them (and take a picture cuz I always forget or question my memory).
Then put them back in for another two hours and weigh them again. If they didn’t lose weight they’re good.

lol yeah but it only takes ten seconds and it makes me feel better about cramming 5 ounces into a jar.
Especially since I know most of them are going to stored for a very long time so they gotta be ready.

I think it’s a half gallon. It’s like the size of a 2 liter soda bottle.
They’re packed in though, like a brick of shrooms.
I bet if I broke the jar they’d stay in the same shape.

You think a huge pickle jar would remain airtight? Lid doesnt have a a lot of threads only reason i havnt bothered to use it.
Edit: i put some water in it before inverting it and a few air bubbles dribbled up so i guess not.

Alright, I'll experiment with it and let y'all know. I'm thinking about cutting the bottom of some of the trays because they're way too thin and are going to smash the shrooms. I'll post an update with it all.

Tek..?
1) place in dehydrator. 2) turn on max temp 3) allow to become cracker dry. Once biggest mushroom is cracker dry upon inspection, i run an extra hour or so to make sure.
4) place in airtight container

I use a dehydrator store bought for the first 12-24 hours (however long it takes to shrivel the caps and stems and get most of the water out, and then I use a tub with damp rid at the bottom layer, a paper towel layer, a couple damp rid tops, another layer of paper towel and the fruits of you labors and that works amazing to get the rest of the water out.

That makes no sense bro.
Its easier to just use a dehydrator till theyre cracker dry
Why do all that other stuff..?
A dehydrator works better and faster
