Monotub no polyfil vs. polyfil, RR method
    #26603690 - 04/15/20 06:22 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

I was reading up just goofin off you know, and I saw RR said a while ago he didn't use poly in his monos.
Whats your guys take on this?
I feel like it might be pretty good since if you are around to mist it enough the evaporation cycles will be really good for pin set?
Anyone got a take on this?
Anyone tried it?

Give this a look

Pastywhyte’s Ez dialed monotubs

But I think you could probably fruit in open air if you around to mist often enough

Opening the top holes on a mono will give you all the FAE you ever need IMO.  I've used Doc_T style shotgun mini monos with decent results, in 30-60% rH and 70F~ they need to be misted twice a day.  I'm guessing a regular mono will is going to give you even more FAE than a shotgunned tub.

pinset was amazing but yield was not great.  I think it was genetics that lead to that pinset more than the FC though.  Lil firecrackers.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

No, this does not look right...

So youre wanting to make a 4-hole double -sided mono or 6-hole quad-sided without stuffing poly?

Sorry, little confused on the wording. But what I have is a 6 hole mono. The standard 66 qt tek with 4 holes on long sides and two holes at the top of the short ends. I have polyfil in it right now its ready for fruiting, just wondering if you think having none and spraying often would develop better than poly.
For me dialing in the poly is the hardest part.
Thanks!

If the air in the room is still and at least above 50% rh you would prob be better off. If the room has a ceiling fan or other means of generating air currents then just top holes out bottom holes loose

Either way should be fine.

And yes, you sre describing what i call a 6-hole quad-sided mono. 6 total holes using all 4 sides.

Latest trend [shouldnt say trend but lack o better term. This new weed is too much] around here is no hole monos and they can do well [dialed into room environment] with just a gap around a flipped lid or no lid at all.

Very interesting. I appreciate the feedback greatly man! Love to learn and talk with peers in this hobby! Yea I have a humidifier in my room that I don't turn on unless I need to and I have a ceiling fan but its never on.
I could probably do the humidifier with no poly.
Or I could just leave it as is and not have the humidifier on.
Thanks for the feedback. Some interesting things I will have to try!
Thanks everyone for your comments!

Just for anyone that wants to know figured I should put what RR said.
He said, "I use 1/4" holes, but bear in mind that a 1" hole is 16 times the size of a 1/4" hole, so you'd have to adjust humidification potential to match."
Not too sure what he means by humidification potential unless that means the potential for misting lots of times in the day.

The question the guy was asking was about a monotub though.

Whats your take on this? Would appreciate what you have to say. How do you do it? Or does it depend on time of the year and conditions?

IDK you're over thinking it man. You haven't even started and you're worried. Pick a method and go with it. Ask questions about your grow. I already wrote down how I do it in detailed teks.

RR doesn't have good advice on monotubs he hasn't done one. Research involves being critical of source and context

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear before thats my fault. I am fruiting them right now. Maybe I already said that lol sorry. I was just wondering your take on no poly vs poly. I have two shoeboxes and one big mono that has been like 10 days since spawn. This is like my third grow. Appreciate the feedback!

Poly during fruting has one purpose. To balance tub humidity with fae for an autonomous growing environment.

Think about it.

They both work. If they don't you gotta practice until it does
