can i over-incubate my jars?

i'm going on a month long trip and i was planning on innoculating some jars and putting them in the two-tub w/ water and fishtank heater style incubator. can i leave them in there that long w/ no care? the tek says that some water will evaporate...will enough evaporate in that time period to leave my incubator completely dry or not properly functioning?
also, will the jars overcolonize? should i set the temperature down a bit so they don't colonize as fast or should i forget the incubator and just store them under my bed wrapped in blankets?

I would just go without the incubator while you are gone, that way you won't have that nagging thought about the tub-tub going dry and the heater burning your house down.

As far as I know and from what I read lots of people forget about their jars for months and then they still use them. I would suggest dunking them for atleast 12 hours when you get back to re-hydrate teh cakes. I dont think there will be a problem then, but then again wait for someone more experienced to answer your question.

if you put the heater in a bottle of water in the inc. it wont evaporate much and i'd tape the holes shut to lock em in ,that might slow colonisation down a bit

good advice man...i don't want to burn my house down!! that was one of my main fears. if i'm not there to check on it my trip might be full of paranoia...especially b/c i'll be smoking plenty marijuana in amsterdamn . my brother could possibly watch the incubator for me.
how long does it take to fully colonize a cake in an incubator vs. how long does it take to fully colonize a cake if i just leave them under my bed wrapped in blankets?

It took my jars around 3 weeks to be fully colonized in a tub-in-tub incubator at 85 degrees, probably take 2 or 3 more weeks if no incubator was used, depending on your room temp.

Thats a pretty solid advice.

Seeing you have about 2000 posts I would assume you would know something simple like that.
