Good finds everyone! Mind blown... anyone risking it by travelling outside the "30 minute isolation exercise zone"? Lol I'm so tempted to visit my couple spots but so scared at the same time. Does an early season make for an early finish too?

Its been an interesting year and i seem to have honed my weather watching skills more. I was left feeling empty handed and unhopfull until i hit 750m, it continued to get wetter as i ascended. There was by no means an abundance of subs, but some really nice early fruiting patches that made hours of hunting very fun. The large mature sub really got me thinking how many variations in cold springwater flows there must be, i started targeting shelved/flatter looking areas with larger mountain ash etc and lomandra grasses dominating, presumably slowing water flows and allowing the mycel to fruit. Looking forward to posting more pics and i hope you all enjoy. Cheers.

Psilocybe alutacea and Deconica coprophila side-by-side

Can't wait for subs!
Deserves another look. The stipe on that P.semilanceata is insane.
Congrats of your first finds ElectroDuck

There's a high chance of finding them. And you'll be more and more likely to find them over the coming weeks as they become more prevalent. Just check the dampest, shadiest spots and look especially close amoungst fallen branches and bark.
If you're not finding them just check increasingly damp and shadier areas until you do.
Good luck

First year hunting and first ever subs found, super stoked! Gathered about 25g total and left a few for next time too.
What's the dosage like for freshies? Seen a few mixed opinions online

ok sweet as thxs for the advice, i went for another look around my area today and came up empty handed i think ill wait till it gets a bit wetter( in a couple weeks as u suggest) cos none of the spots that i looked at seemed to be that damp now that i think about it.

I'd consider 10g of fresh Psilocybe subaeruginosa mushrooms to be a low dose, 20g fresh to be a medium dose and 30g fresh to he a high dose.
On the previous page I took my time typing up pretty much all you need to know about finding, preserving and dosing psilocybin mushrooms. Feel free to check it out.

g'day one & all.
i believe that best practice is to cut rather than pull the 'shroom, thus not damaging the mycilium, .... better results when you revisit the patch later, or next year.

Been watching some pinning patches for the past 3 days. Checking every day sometimes twice a day so I can locate all the pinning patches then when I come back I check progress. 3 of my patches had some opened caps even though in my experience they are on the smaller side.
Huge congratulations to the newbies who had their first successful hunt! I remember the feeling of my first ever sub find and dosage. Magical. Here are just a few of the mushies harvested

Gday all. Well done to everyone who's started to pick up a few. Wondering what altitude and region people are finding them at the moment? My guess it's probably the higher regions (600m+) - still not quite damp enough in my lower lying spots.

I've been finding a good amount of Psilocybe subaeruginosa mushrooms at around 10m above sea level in the south eastern suburbs 30 to 60 minutes drive out of the city.
If I were you I'd check areas with trees closer together (creating more shade and dampness) instead of going to higher altitudes. I do know which slope of a certain mountain to descend in order to find one paper bag equivalent full of mushrooms in a couple hours, but I found it somewhat tiring going down the mountain then back up again. I much prefer hunting at level areas.....
Good luck

I’m curious if anyone has been successful at starting sub patches by manually spreading spores to new locations?
Since last year, I’ve been trying to print basically everything I pick. After I had a look at the second last paragraph of Bob’s hunting guide. Which is a damn fine read by the way, people new to hunting actives in the south eastern states should check it out..
Instead of drying straight away. I’m under the impression that it might be beneficial to take prints & rerelease the spores onto other patches or spots in the garden. Today I’ve sprayed this spore solution onto this real damp mycelium ridden wood chip pile & used it as mulch on various garden beds. Not sure if anything will come of it in the years to come. But it can’t hurt trying.
