When to fruit Oyster mushrooms?
    #26602697 - 04/15/20 11:06 AM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hey guys, I'm growing some blue oysters in a monotub and I need some advice on when I should fruit them. Now, before anyone says anything, I know monotubs are not great for oysters. Growing them in one isn't ideal but hey, I'm here now so I might as well try to get the best results possible.

^that is a picture of where I'm at now, the tub has only been colonizing for 4 days and is progressing quickly since I used a high ration of grain spawn to substrate. I am thinking of putting them into fruiting conditions within the next 2-3 days. Do they need more time?

My process for fruiting is as follows:
Remove all polyfil from tub holes and remove tub lid to increase FAE,
Spray the tub 2-4 times a day with tap water
Use an LED light placed above the tub to help growth

I was considering adding Coir but others have told me it is of no benefit to Oysters so I will NOT add any unless anyone thinks otherwise.

Does this sound like it could get me the best results possible or is it a recipe for disaster?

Thanks.

It is ready to fruit. I would fan out the tub every time I thought about it. If you are going to spray the tub spray the sides of the tub not the sub.

I'd leave the lid off completely at this point. Just mist it several times a day. There's no way they will get enough air otherwise
