Help with my bulk grow

So I colonized a 24oz jar with PE spores. Everything went great. I waited till it was completely white before I started my mono-tub. I went along with buying bulk casing from Midwest I continued the process of mixing it with my colonized jar Inside the mono-tub and I left it alone it’s been about 8 days nothing has happened lol ???? Soooo I also did a lil experiment and used less than a quarter of the 24oz jar that was colonized and I added bulk casing and left it alone. Wondering if this is looking good and should I wait till fruiting or should I fruit now?

This is one of my jars that’s been taking its sweet time lol I had shook her cuz I read it speed the process but still here taking her time lol

What was the “bulk casing” you bought made up of? Bulk substrate is what you mix your spawn with, casing is adding a layer of non nutritious substrate on top of your bulk sub.
You maybe just mixed up terminology but if you ordered a peat based casing mix then that could explain why nothing’s happening.

I got a 5lb bag

Midwest's Premium Select Bulk Casing is the perfect combination of Coco Coir, Vermiculite, Hydrated Lime, Gypsum, ph buffers, ph stabilizers, mineral water and a few other choice ingredient

You may want to check with someone more experienced but 5 lbs of substrate sounds like a lot of substrate for one jar. Not saying it won't work, but it may take a while. It seems like 2:1 ratio of substrate to spawn is average.

I really don’t know what the deal is there. Their terminology is mixed up, they say that the stuff mentioned is a casing material for going on top of (and under?) your bulk substrate. Yet all the 4/5 star reviews (4 is the lowest somehow) talk about how fast their mushrooms tore through it as if it’s a bulk substrate.
I try to stay far away from those pre made websites. I’m not just trying to bash on them but mushroom growing (cubes anyway) is a simple process that uses simple ingredients but businesses think everyone is like a child and needs bright lights and shiny shit everywhere so they do all these strange unnecessary things that just create confusion.
PE is a slow variety so that may have something to do with it. Also your spawn could have issues. Do you have any pictures of it before mixing it in?

What kind of bulk substrate do you use and where do you get it if you don’t mind me asking?

Casing goes on top of the bulk substrate.
You want just straight up coir to mix the spawn with, then add a thin layer of the ph adjusted casing on top.
Seems like it should still grow in just the casing you have but I think your spawn is fucked.
PE myc has always been super aggressive for me and colonized very fast. It just takes twice as long to pin after.

I use coir/vermiculite or sometimes coir/hpoo/ vermiculite. With some gypsum added in. You can pull lbs for like $10 once you get going. Cheaper for me when I feel like collecting horse poop lol.
50lb bag of whole oats for like $12-15 3 bricks coir for $10 (1 per tub) 8 qt verm $13 (4 tubs) A $10 lb of gypsum will last a long while. Occasional stacks of petris or you can go higher upfront and get reusable glass dishes, or use little tupperwares. A few 58qt tubs. 1 110 qt tub for SAB
You can just live on mushrooms.
