Is this the right kind of gypsum? My only concern is that on the product description, it states that it's not organic. Also, these are the ingredients
Calcium (Ca): 21% Sulfur (S): 14% Calcium Sulfate (CaSo4): 68% Water Soluble Binder-lignosulfonate: 2% Moisture (Maximum): 1%
Also, it's pelletized gypsum and not in powdered form. How would I use this kind of gypsum for preparation of grains and substrate? Do I need to crush them into powder or could I just leave it as it is and just pour it straight into soaked grains/pasteurized substrate? How much gypsum would I need to prepare 7 quarts of oats and a brick/2qt verm substrate?

I appreciate it but there are also many people who uses it frequently in their grows with success vs the opinion of 1 person. I know gypsum is optional, but at this $5 price point, it's worthwhile for me to experiment with it and see if it improves anything.

I use gypsum, mine is not powder but the pellet form and I just throw it in, brf or whatever but it doesn't need very much at all as far as I'm aware. My gypsum says this: Calcium sulphate 55% SO3, 28% Ca.

I gave this stuff a try once upon a time and had nothing but bad luck while using it. I think the sulfur may be an issue, but am not sure about this. I now use the lab grade gypsum in the mylar bags. It looks pure white and the powder is very fine. I am also experimenting with plaster of paris from the hardware store. I am trying to phase it in as a more cost effective alternative to gypsum that I am not forced to order online.

I think what you have is fine. I use garden gypsum from Menards. Use a small handful with the coir before you hydrate it. You don't have to crush it. I put the gypsum in a 5 gallon bucket first then the dried coir over it. Add the boiling water and cover it and wait a while. When you mix the coir up the gypsum will be dissolved and unnoticeable.
