Check out this white spot that’s growing on the tips of my caps. Contam or something else? * 1

Hey first time grower here. With this first batch of cakes I’ve noticed some of the pins have a white hue to them, which I looked up and seems to be normal (I hope). Now that the mushrooms have aged a bit I’ve noticed a white spot on the tips of the caps. A few mushrooms are starting to have their veil break and I was planning on harvesting them whenever they are ready. Was just curious if it’s mold or some other contam. Also I noticed a weird growth on a cap (in picture) not sure if that’s related or if just a mutation. I appreciate any feedback I can get.

Nice cake  and that oddity looks ordinary enough imo not to worry too much about, tho I can't say for sure what it depends on.
I'd lean more towards something environmental like water damage, rather than contamination.

Its a mutant abnormality. Ive seen a ton of grows with them (but never on mine for some reason). I wouldnt worry, its just weird genetics at play.

I’m guessing it’s damage from watering. I was trying to research whether misting the cakes directly when they have pins does damage or not. A lot of people were saying that it’s old news and that as long as you fan the excess moisture off it’ll be fine. I even made sure to spay ever so lightly on the pins and fan pretty hard for a good 30 seconds,  but I think from now on I’ll just be spaying the sides of the FC. thank you for your opinion, I appreciate it! Have a great one.

It's not so much about misting directly, it does rain out in nature and it doesn't hurt the mushrooms. But spraying them when theyre already soaked can hurt them if the water stays on them for too long.

So the mushrooms can handle a light mist? I never did it to the point where it soaked the cap I’d just give it a light spray and then fan to high heaven. I kinda fucked up my SGFC by drilling holes two inches apart on the 4 main sides and now it has a hard time keeping humidity up. I taped up some holes and have the tiny air pump and humidifier that came with from Midwestgrowkits. I have the humidifier running and hour on and an hour off throughout the day. It gets about 99% at its highest and 80-85 at its lowest. Should I stop misting and just let the cakes get moisture from the humidifier or keep up watering as well?

You can put the substrates closer towards the center of the tub and closer to each other to keep humidity up so you won't have to mist as often. It's not a dialed in machine so I can't tell you how often to mist or how much you'd have to post more pics of the cakes throughout the day for anyone to have a saying on that. It's only through visual inspection that you can know when to mist and when not to.

I’ll try moving them closer together. To see if it has an impact on humidity. The cakes all have pins on them so I think I must be doing something right. I’ll refrain from misting for a day or two and see if the cakes are in dire need of extra moisture or if the humidifier will do it’s job. Right now I have two fruiting chambers set up. This was due to the fact that the birthing/dunks were staggered. I separated the two  batches of  6 cakes in each FC Incase of contam. Now that all the cakes in the FC with all the holes have good pins on them and the other 6 in the less airflow set up are starting  to pin should I condense the two down to a single one FC or keep them apart. I figured maybe having 12 cakes in a chamber might help with the humidity vs just 6. Thank you very much for your time and opinion.

Here are pics of the FCs and cakes. The first set up was birthed and dunked later than the second which would explain the difference in pinning.
