Yes, mate, it might be something unpleasant. I think I had it before, but I've done cakes just 3-4 times. Let's see what the more experienced folks will say, but if you are concerned that it's bacteria, I'd quarantine it just to be safe.

I've had cakes with the only sign of bacteria is one or two spots of metabolites get taken over by mold so quickly. But I've also had completely yellow/red cakes produce good flushes. It really just is an experiment and a waiting game every time.

Well damn... if i see yellow/red cakes I put the hazmat suit on lmao I always have so much more yield from bulk in SGFC, so I kind of gave up on cakes. Maybe I just suck at doing them lol

What would be the cause of this slight bruising I dunked 5 days ago and rolled then placed into fc 4 days ago I closed lid for 48hrs as per the tek then misted and left cracked the last few days, I have a few pins and knots that I can see but what is causing the bruising do I need to fan more? Whenever I notice the dew evaporated I will mist with a ultra-fine mister to replenish the droplets.

Ah. I don't get better yields with cakes to bulk. My tubs would mold out way too often. I don't use an SAB, maybe that's why my contam rates are higher.

Yes twice a day should I fan more? is it possible that the fan in my room is causing to much airflow and drying them out? Or am I not getting enough fae?

Fanning is probably causing your problems.
In the water tub, you should really only need to mist them once a day max. The only air they need is what they get through the lid. Mist those bad boys, lid your tub, and let ‘em chill. They’ll fruit just fine.

The yellow/beige discoloration is spreading, but it’s worst on the bottom left cake. It’s remained quite humid in the tub and I am only misting when the droplets evaporate, which has been a couple times a day. No pins. Any thoughts?

Maybe take that to the contamination thread. Link in my sig. That myc looks different from anything I’ve grown. Might be contam. Ask there, they’ll know more.

I could be wrong but from my research milky/creamy looking mycelium like you have is a sign of bacterial contam, you may still get fruits from them if its just bacterial though, regardless good luck!

I posted in the contamination forum, one person suggested the cakes had gotten dry, that’s the yellowing. As far as the white/fluffy mycelium, it all appeared during the 48 hours with the lid shut, the cakes I fruited in an sgfc never did that. Of course, they were a different strain, so I thought nothing of it. Nobody in the contam forum has responded to the strange looking mycelium growth yet

Locked the lid on yesterday morning this-morning when I woke up I shined a light in and it appears as if the bruising is starting to disappear, I also see quite a few pins, thank you again for the tip!

Read this entire thread. Next set of jars I have I think I am going to use many parts of this Tek. Honestly my terrarium seems practically made for the water tub XD

While I'm waiting on my first agar plates to do whatever they're going to do I decided to take a crack at pf cakes. This definitely looks like the the fc tek I'll use once they're ready to be birthed.

Funny how much those few grew in like 6 hours but is it normal for them to be growing upside down, they are about to start growing into the water im assuming that isnt suppose to happen

Yeah they do seem to take a sort of sentient joy in growing down towards the water. That’s where I get many of my largest PF fruits.
