Maybe more water in the water tub will help? I have used some small jars with very wet coir to help with humidity also…I think it can evaporate easier from coir, could be ass backwards tho
ive had a water tub in low rh environment with a fan blowing and had no issues with having to mist that often, can I see your tub? just out of curiosity…

Here is one of my water tubs. It's an unmodified 5gal sterilite with the lid always closed (fruiting conditions). Ok it's not really unmodified, but I just plugged the already existing holes with duct tape.

I thought about putting more water a few times but after thinking about it I dont get the point. it's not like it gets more surface area with more water, there's just less space in the tub. I'm not the smartest guy tho so I honestly don't know what would happen.
It's worth noting that this shelf is directly under an AC vent

interesting…I had this crazy idea about a water tub but with wet paper towels on the side, part of the towel in the water so it wouldn’t dry up…the idea wuld be the water evaporates offf the paper towel as it’s siphoned back up….This way i could add extra fae without sacrificing humidty might try it some day haha
can the light get thru that lid?
man that’s rough tho, hope you can figure out something easier eventually

So I cased some cakes after about 22/23 hours soaking in coir. The coir didn’t seem to stick as well compared to a caked that only soaked about 3 hours. Is this unheard of or unusual? I did the best I could getting the coir to stick but it’s is close to bare in some spots on the cakes..

I've never let cakes soak in casing before, but that sounds genius. I'm planning on trying that next time I dunk some cakes.

Ah the wording was a bit confusing lol. I see it now.
I have cakes I plan on casing in coir in a few days/a week. I’ll post here with results.

Will a water tub provide enough humidity for trays about 9" x 13" x 2", of Panaeolus cyanescens aka Copelandia cyanescens, (in a substrate of mainly verm.,manure, water, and straw) ?
OR are water tubs just meant for cube cakes?

I feel like FAE would be an issue with Pans. Never done it I'm planning on making a JCM for myself. Everything I've fruited thus far has been cakes dunked rolled in verm then plopped in a watertub. I Throw something in there to elevate the cakes out of the water and let them go! Again I'm no expert but that's the idea in my head anyhow.

So having the cakes on a glass rather than cookie rack is better becasue it prevents pins on the bottom? This is why we dont cover the bottom with coir?
Is the coir's purpose nutrition? Does not coveirng the bottom reduce the myc's nutrition?

The coir is for moisture and environment. Yup don't coir the bottom unless you want a pinset on all sides.

I think the dub tub method may be allowing to much FAE. I have closed off the opening a bit by squaring up the top container. The first set of cakes are pinning but the none coir cased ones are a tad blue from drying . I have a heavy most this morning and the cakes that had no pins now have a few on them. Is it safe after the first flush to sink them and put coir on them or just dunk them. Also do I dunk the coir cakes after the flush?

howd it go?
I just failed abysmally to get any verm to stick to my cakes and am depressed.

I searched, the onlky solution I could find was to sugest leaing the cakes buried in the verm for a day for the myc to bond with it. Is this safe?

Mine worked well, but my next round will be cased in coir. It is ok to leave you cakes in the verm to stick. Once we birth cakes they are def never sterile again.
