day 11:

question 1 - should I continue to mist as usual? Some people say not to spray the fruit

question 2 - just discovered half the fruit are growing on the other side of the cake down into the water - what to do? lol

underside growing mushrooms:

the little one also growing fruit on the underside (that was through the rack, towards the water)

so im putting the big one on it's side now:

mushrooms growing all over the shop :hehehe:

You can probably get away without misting at this point but it wouldn't hurt to give it a quick mist once a day in the morning, just be careful not to overmist since the humidity will be pretty high in the Water Tub so the moisture might not evaporate off the fruits for a long time and you don't want standing water on top of the tiny fruits.

And placing the cake on its side is probably a good idea since you have lots of pins on both sides of the cake

is it bad if the fruit grows downward and is in the water?

Impressive growth overnight

Do I need to be worried about the fluffy stuff at the bottom of the fruit ?

Nah man, both cake and fruits looks great, either your cake is thirsty of your Water Tub is airy but you can probably give those a good squeeze from the bottle once or even twice a day during this explosive growth, fruits probably wouldn't mind

It’s quite airy and the grow light provides a little warmth, which means I’m spraying 4-5 times a day (on the sides of the box) and it evaporates pretty quick unless I leave just a tiny gap.  I did also spray the cakes a little, held some paper directly over the fruits so only indirect wetness on them, but plenty of mushroom smell when you wet the cakes

12 hours later:

I’ll be away most of tomorrow so I will mist in the morning and leave a smaller gap than before so they hopefully should be ok

RR worked a day job so we all should be able to right ??

Your mushies will be fine for a day no sweat!

Which variety are those anyway? They're gonna be big fruits in two days

All down to you ! thank you for your help

The yield was 51g, from a cake+coir of 261g.

I'm going to re-dunk and maybe get a second flush. Will put together a summary for others over weekend maybe (and personal gratification ofc)

If you can’t dehydrate them right away, you can pick them and put them in the fridge.. they keep like any mushroom in the fridge (up to 5ish days)

Howdy there,
I am building the SGFC for PFcakes. When done I am going to construct a monotub for bulk substrate. THANKS for the tip on the water tub.
I was wondering how you can keep a steady humidity in a box full of holes.
Thanks again and take care.

Idk if you can keep it steady but you can update it a few times a day, but if you don't really know what to look for when you update the climate with a spray bottle then every update might be counterproductive instead. I think you should fruit in both setups it's not like it takes more than 1min to construct a water tub from readily available items  even if you only had 2 cakes put each in each setup and that way you don't have all the eggs in the same basket
