BEGGINER’s first grow. How to know when to case with Coir?

Hi guys, as the title says, I’m a beginner who is looking into becoming a grower. Right now, I have my first project underway, it’s an oyster mushroom monotub. I figured I’d start with some edible mushrooms, and if they go well, use a B+ spore syringe for the next tub. I have a few concerns about my grow so far.
I made sure to keep everything sterile when preparing my tub, but I’m afraid the alcohol I sprayed wasn’t completely dry when I poured my substrate and grain in. What could this affect?
Also, because of corona, I cannot go to a store to get poly fill, instead, I used the stuffing of a pillow that is very similar in quality to polyfill. Will this work to ventilate a tub? Or will I have to open it every once in a while to air it out? Also, a friend of mine is considering using bleached sheep’s wool as a filter, I don’t know if this is wise.
Im only on day three right now and my tub seems to be growing rapidly. I am going to case the top layer in Coco Coir before it starts to fruit. How will I know when to do this?
Thanks for all your advice guys. Really hoping this grow goes well.

^ Day 3

I did this once accidentally Turned out my button mushroom culture was contaminated with oysters.
When the substrate is colonized, wait two or three days and then case.
Be aware of the fact that oysters need a truckload of FAE. I'd keep the casing pretty moist at all times, REMOVE those polyfill balls. There is waaaay too little FAE in a standard monotub to grow oysters. If you happen to have an ultrasonic fogger and timer, by all means, use it
I ended up just removing the lid all together and misting them like five times a day, even at night when I woke up
When I did oysters intentionally I put a soccerball-sized sawdust block into an SGFC and it did fenomenally.
So... case after a few days after colonization, provide LOTS of FAE and moisture.
Good luck!

I have read that they need a lot of FAE so I am going to loosen the polyfil a lot. Do I run much risk of contam by opening the lid for a few seconds everyday to mist?

Once the mycelium is strongly established itself on the substrate, i.e. it's mostly / entirely colonized, it is almost completely immune to contamination. (Well, at least compared to pure grain or agar. Those things explode with mold and/or bacteria if you look at them the wrong way ). Your tub will be fine.

Ok, I have already removed most of the polyfil but kept a little since the tub is still early in. Once I get closer to fruiting I will only leave a thin layer for simple filtration. Thank you

I think you are underestimating what we mean when we say oysters need a LOT of fae...
If you want the oysters to look anything near like what they're supposed to, you'll want to take out all the polyfill, leave the lid of the tub completely off, and turn the tub all the way on it's side. That STILL won't be enough FAE. This is what we mean by a lot.

Alright, I’ll give it a try once the colonizing is mostly done

As Forrester said you can not grow oysters in a mono tub or not well anyway. Also, oysters show no improvement from a casing layer so no need to use one.
