Flowhood Construction * 1

Good morning everyone! I hope we're all staying indoors. I've been thinking about this post for a week or so and honestly expected to see more obnoxious "HELP ME FIND A FILTER" posts. I was surprised to only see a handful. I digress.

I already own a monster 1TDU2 which is great for a conceptual 24x48 @ 1.0WG. I've spoken with both of the reps in my local supply shops and what I've learned is that the 2'x4' filters are pretty rare and are more commonly of a much lower WG than 1.0. They have some potentials but no glass slippers as it were.

The best I've found locally is
Flowstar CP-07 24.00 x 48.00 x 5.88 @ .32" - Simply too little water gauge

12XH-23F23F12 - 23x23x11 x 1.35" - These could work if I put them next to each other I think? I'm not sure I've seen anyone do that with success. Also laminar through LN2 I'm sure would look a little funky with that gap no?

On Ebay (and I think that this is a curious time for eBay due to the Cov19) but it's looking pretty bleak.

CAMFIL FARR 855024774 MEGALAM PANEL P7-18.00-48.00-2-03-SR-00-00-0 PACK OF 2

Can I put these in front of each other? that would give me 1100CFM @ 105 FPS if my understanding of the math is correct. (Please elucidate me if not)

AAF Flanders Astrocel II 905-251-306 HEPA Filter

This one is promising albeit a bit pricey and I can't find the graph for it. I'm pushing 1200CFM but they tested it at 1600 but then also didn't report (on the label) the egress airflow so that doesn't inspire confidence.

Anyways, I've been pouring plates in a sab like usual and I'm so over it. Wife said I can add a microscope to my lab but honestly this should take priority.

I'm grateful for any research assistance I can get in these trying times. (egg?)

Why in the world don't we have a functional discord right now?

I'd say that a small but irritating number of plates experience some form of contaminate. My clean technique for jars has been 95% perfect so far. It's just very very cumbersome and I'd like to get away from the SAB. I have a nice lab desk and am interested in studying somewhat more than growing out so to speak.

FCM, a popular youtuber is using the below filter and I'll be damned if I can find one anywhere. I'd even go on a road trip for it but sadly, they are just rare.

Flanders Astrocel I - 17A74J1T2H0 (567-743-008) - 24x48x5 7/8 1.0" WG

I guess mostly dismiss, if you filter by date, it's all just a bunch of goobers like me trying to figure it out. I think there must be enough info in that list to be successful.
