Pressure cooker left on for 6 hrs

Wow, never done that before. Lucky I didn't blow up my house.
What's even more odd is there's still water at the bottom, my PC didn't warp and my grains didn't turn black, they look fairly normal.
Don't know if I'll still use them but wow I got lucky!

As long as there was water inside, it's fine. And water evaporates really slowly from a PC when used correctly.
I'd give those grains a go.

They look pretty well usable to me, just worried their moisture content is off a little based on the darkened/burned smell that was coming from them, even tho they don't look burnt or burst.

My standard PC run for (dirty as hell) oats is 4 hours at ~19 PSI and they always come out a little darker with a noticeable smell since they caramelize a bit. Never had a problem colonizing with the extended time or added pressure after I started doing it. I doubt you'll have any trouble with your grains.

How come you're running for such a long time at that pressure? Bags?

lol
I had lots of contam issues early on and ruled everything out but my dusty, dirty, nasty oats. I suspected high endospore load based on the nature of contams I was observing in the jars. I can't get triple-washed in my area, and I was already committed to the 50 lb sack of grain I'd bought, so I opted for overkill and started prepping my oats with higher times and pressures. Haven't had an issue since, though admittedly I could probably back off a bit now that I have more experience.

lol Next step: gamma rays
At this point my prep is driven as much by methods as it is by superstition. I mean, it works, right? I agree with you though, and nobody likes babysitting their PC.
