Contam question

Hey guys. This is my first run and I recently put my tub into fruiting conditions. Everything was 100% colonized and I came back and noticed a fist size of green mold on the corner of my tub. After debating to toss it or try and save it I opted for the latter. I cut out a third of the tub with a flame sterilized knife. Is this still fruit able? Also how did this contam arise? Was the spawn not clean, or is contamination still possible even if the substrate is 100% colonized. Thanks for any help!

You may and will likely still have a contamination. Some people have been able to salvage them, but if it's green, that usually represents trich. Trich is usually a result from bad grain or too wet and not enough FAE for the substrate. I'd toss it out ASAP before it goes sporulating all over every inch of your grow room. That's just what I'd personally do to not take the risk. It's really not worth it.
If you have the outdoor space, you could always try making a patch outside and tending to it that way to give it a better chance. Or just start again. If you didn't use agar to inoculate your grains, I highly recommend that as a starting point to not let this happen again.

Thank you, it had to be an FAE issue I’m guessing since everything was perfect until I started adding the poly fill the day prior. I’ll get rid of the bin and clean my room just as a precaution.

Do you have pics? Trich starts out as bright white before going green so it wouldn’t just appear in a day as a green spot. If your substrate is coir/verm with no hpoo, coffee grounds, or other additives and you contam before the first flush it’s usually your spawn.
Either something tagged along in there without notice or you had bacteria hanging out and weakening your spawn, then when you mix with bulk it doesn’t recover as fast and aggressive as it should and it allows the floating spores in your house to take hold. Trich is a very common one.

Unfortunately I don’t. I sent it on an encrypted messaging app and it deleted the pics after an hour. I do have a picture before though. This was by far my best tub in regards to colonization.
Damn. Looking at it now I see it. It’s at the bottom of the picture. I was so caught up on it looking so good for my first time I totally didn’t recognize what I was staring at.

Also, no additives. Just coir and verm.
