Agar enlightenment needed

I’m sure I’ll probably get shot down
thanks to this community, I’ve have had a 3 successful Cubensis growths in monotubs; these have mainly been from PFTEK to coir monotubs. I think I have managed to have some understand agar: sterilising plates, making agar from BRF (thanks to bod), agar inoculation from spores (thanks to bod) , sample to agar from king oyster and Cubensis.
I have rye grain I am yet to use as spawn for coir for cubes, hardwood shavings for King oyster and have just got some lions mane too. I have just inoculated agar with grey oyster LC (2days no growth yet), which I intend on using on the bloody amazon boxes that have accumulated from being in isolation (My kids need books to read and other stuff to do while am lucky enough to be able to try and work remotely; Due to Fucking idiots that think a bat or pangolin sandwich is what nature intended).
I have accumulated around 30 Petri dishes with growth (I know there some on here who have hundreds, I don’t have the space). I believe I need to cull some as they are fails, so I can they sterilise those dishes and transfer some healthy growth. Some are in the fridge and some are growing in a room with temp ranging from 22- 28°C (69.8-84.2f).
A few of them have pins
I want to get a better understanding of good mycelium growth on agar... is there a sticky that I am yet to discover that has agar growth that can be used for visual comparison (I await a shoot down with “use the advanced search engine, trust me I have I am either thick as shit or blind or both; probably the latter).
I know oyster’s (king and grey etc) mycelium are fluffy, compared to cubes (I think). With cubes the mycelium is more obvious right?
correct me if I’m wrong: 1. with cubes but my understanding is That the IDEAL growth to isolate and transfer, should resemble roots or veins that DIRECTLY and UNIFORMLY branch out from the inoculation/transfer point. 2. The growth should only take up a max of a 2/3 of a dish, if it touches the side is that a fail or do I isolate and transfer the healthy mycelium
I await the tumble weeds, that will add drama to the empty London streets during lockdown... whilst awaiting the shots from the expert triggers.

1. yes, the veins you are talking about are really microscopic, you might no be able to see it with a bare eye, but in a bigger picture it does resemble roots 2. why not? If your mycelium touches the edge of petri's, there is no reason it is bad or unhealthy, just transfer it in the center of growth

AGAR ENVY! (Anything and All things agar!)
Then search this thread at the bottom of each page. Helped me find what a particular variety 'should' look like

2. Those pink plates are not isolates. Maybe in ten more transfers they might be. Don't worry about Rhizomorphic growth. It doesn't magically mean it's better mycelium it's just a form it can grow in. Tomentose plates can produce the same results.
3. You have to test your clones regardless. Any tissue you get from your clone will likely be a multitude of genetics. I would stick with cloning. do isolate work in your spare time. Working with isolates is a lot of shit and little rewards until you find a good one
You could put your growth onto a new less nutritional plate and it may grow way more rhizomorphic but its not like that changed any performance characteristics. Other than making your culture older
As for mycelium touching the edges of your petri, it's fine. It is not recommended to transfer those parts, however, because they are more prone to contamination.

You can also transfer the pins from one plate to another. They'll grow out like regular myc

Rhizomorphic growth is obvious to the naked eye, no need for microscopes.
Rhizomorphic is not necessary, however, with cubensis is makes isolating healthy growth quite straightforward.
Agreed, people freak out about the edge of agar plates needlessly. If your sterile tek is down don't even worry about it. If you have troubles with contamination then it is something to consider.
