When I was 18 I took a bunch of shrooms with some friends and found an old wood building, most the floor was missing on the first floor and it was very decrepit, first step into the building a piece of ply wood instead of regular wood was set on 2 floor beams and it flipped over and I racked my self on the floor beam, got up and wandered around and walked up stairs and saw the most incredible looking painting I had ever seen, I was in awe it was the most beautiful painting never in my life could I imagine something so magnificent it was almost unreal so I went to touch it and I fell through the painting and almost out the window because it was a big open hole in the wall for a window. Thankfully my shins caught on what would be the lower part of the frame for the window and I didn't fall out.

That is some Alice in Wonderland shit right there!

But going on day hikes in general...I'm still going to continue to go on hikes regardless if there are signs saying the area is closed. I'm not putting my self or anyone else at risk. I'm not damaging the trails by walking on them (we don't have a "mud" season around here), and the trails and areas I go to aren't crowded (I'm one that avoids people, I always have lol, I tend to go to areas where there won't likely be anyone else around).
Come summer time, even if this is still going on, I plan on going backpacking/camping out in the wilderness.

.
I hear ya, my initial thought when the closures started happening was that it'd be a great time to get into the woods for some day hikes. In NH I grew up in the mountains and know a ton of old fire warden trails and bushwack routes that I could avoid the main parking lots (which are likely closed now), and not see a soul on my way to some awesome summits.
After thinking about it and a lot of discussion with other hikers though, it's just not the time to be out there. If I'm in the woods and have any sort of freak injury or medical emergency, that means a crew of 8-12 people (usually local volunteers in my area) would have to come litter carry me out, which if you've ever witnessed it, is as anti-social distancing as it gets... if one person in that group has the virus then it's pretty much guaranteed that most will have it by the end, and they'll bring it back to their families and communities.
No one ever starts a hike thinking they'll need a rescue, but all it takes is one thing going slightly wrong. I'd be literally risking other people's health and even lives because I felt entitled to break the rules and go play in the woods, and got unlucky with the gamble I took.
The odds of the worst case scenario playing out are somewhat long, but become much less so as more and more people decide to take the same risk, which they will and are. It just seems like the ethical thing right now is to respect what everyone from epidemiologists to park rangers to hiking/trail organizations are urging, and don't take risks that will also put other people at risk.
If there was something I could sign that said "don't rescue me" and go hike I'd be all for it, but that's just not a thing unfortunately.
Hopefully things start getting back to normal soon. I missed out on my AT section hike last year because of an injury, this'll be the last year for a long time that I'll have the time off to give it a go

Just saw that Hawaii is getting stay at home orders way more strict and getting more crazy with their law enforcement to enforce it,
They have 500 total cases.

So I go back to work next week, even though my work is not essential and all essential buisnesses are suppose to be still closed for the rest of the month, not really sure why this is being allowed, or if it is legal or if the company is just flexing on the government and knows they won't stop them.
But I just think its stupid, I can't go on a hike, but I can go to work and be close to people building a big ass machine ok. Makes sense thank you governor very cool.

Well the hike that I really want to do, is still by appointment and since its a 4 hour drive I don't want to set an appointment and be late. This is stupid, if I can grocery shop without a mask I don't see why I need a damn appointment to go on a cave hike.

Cave hike? Every cave I’ve ever been in has a pretty strict limit to number of visitors
