0 for 2 innoculating jars
    #2653066 - 05/08/04 10:43 AM (19 years, 11 months ago)

Using PF Tek.  First time I boiled the jars in a pot since I didn't have a PC and did four jars to start with.  A few days later they were fucked.  I decided to go buy a little 10 psi PC and cooked 4 more jars for 1? hours and tried again.  Same result.  So 8 jars total and they all came out looking the same with the same contam.  Here is a pic of my latest jars but remember all 8 looked exactly like this.  I dunno whats up.  First two times I innoculated in my room spraying everything down with Lysol and I even bought some gloves for the second time.  I flamed the needle with an alcohol flame then even rubbed it down with alcohol on a cotton ball to clean it even more.  Held my breath while doing it and also my room doesn't have any drafts.  Last night I did 4 more jars in the PC and tried the Oven Tek this morning so we'll see if third times a charm.  I hope so but don't have much faith at this point. :frown:  BTW I got the syringe from The Hawk. (B+)

EDIT: Pics don't work anymore.  I took them down.

That was my thought too but I didn't want to jump the gun and blame the syringe when it very weel may be my fault but I really don't know what else it could be.  I'm trying to be as clean as I can.  I even took a shower this morning right before innoculating to be extra clean.

I find it wierd that EVERY jar looked exactly the same. Does this mean it's the same contam or could different shit look the same in ALL the jars?

I also think your syringe was contaminated, you should contact whoever you bought them from and let them know and ask for a replacment.
I used pot/lid method and had only 1 bad jar due to water getting in.

Oh.  I have sigs turned off so I didn't see anything about voting.

Also I have a few jars that I cooked un-inncolulated chillin in my fridge.  Will they stay sterile in there for when/if I recieve a replacement syringe or should I just chuck them and do another batch?

Well if they are sealed up tight they probably will be ok,I would wrap each jar iin foil tightly,or place in a ziplock.I keep them sometimes for a month or more, but i vacuem seal them,so they are air tight.Should be fine.I would do a few more though when your syringe comes,so that you have a few others going just in case.

That looks fine to me, too.

Dr. Greenthumb, save that 3rd set of jars for a while and see what happens; they don't look contaminated to me.

It doesn't resemble any colonized jars I've ever had, except for the contaminated ones, which I've seen a good number of too. I'm definitely still novice though. Every time any of my jars end up looking too wet inside (as yours did), I ended up with this problem. Or perhaps mine wasn't contam all this time, but I sure wasn't proceeding on with growing it, since the others were fluffy white mycellium.

The pics don't do it justice. It strats off white then within a day or two it deff has a tint of blue/green/grey. It's hard to describe thecolor but it's deff not pure white.

And some jars looked wet, some didn't. The first two batches I mixed all the jars seperately but on the last set I mixed all the substrate at once and divided it between the jars.
