Standard gourmet mushroom prices - store vs farm?

Why is it I see store shiitake is around $5/LB and local farms charge $10/lb I understand supporting smaller businesses who may have limited supply and less resources but it seems a bit silly to me that there isn’t much they are boasting over store carried mushrooms except “love” put into it which is funny because any mushroom farm I’ve visited seemed more like a cash cow than for the “love”
What are standard prices around you per LB?
Oyster,lions mane etc

It’s about $15 here. What actually determines the market. What model is being used when determining prices aside from soft costs-materials-presentation etc?

Youll find that elitist snobby tone in most things done by people that bathe in the idea of only they can do it so they feel a false sense of empowerment.
Look at guys that can afford 3k-4k gaming rigs etc

Selling low volume product direct to consumers always ccomes with a high price. Small to medium sized mushroom farms are primarily focused on selling large volume to restaurants at wholesale. Extremely large mushroom producers (those with 100k+ sq ft facilities) can afford to package, distribute, and sell shiitake at 5 a pound.
No one is striking it rich selling shiitake at 10 dollars a pound at your farmers market.
