BRF cakes with no rhizomorphic growth
    #26595916 - 04/12/20 02:32 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

Hi all,
I've always used substrate pots from a company along with their spore syringes and always seen healthy rhizomorphic growth.
Now I've tried making my own BRF cakes I only get the fluffy white growth (tomentose?) but no rhizomorphic growth - see pics.
Any advice on why this be? Also can I still expect fruits in the end.
Cheers,
  Claire.

Tomentose growth is fine.  In fact in some cases on grain or cakes intense rhyzo growth can be an indication of bacterial contamination.  Your cakes look a bit wet but they seem to be colonizing decently.  If you are using a different variety, that may be the cause of the different morphology.  Should fruit fine assuming they colonize clean.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

No, this does not look right...
