Rye jar was contaminated and throwing that azz back and it recovered

Will add pictures here but the story is:

Had a nice strong 40% colonized jar and then saw contams. Did a taboo thing and took out some good mycelium ( opened it in a different location in a SAB for a G2G transfer and agar transfer) the receiving jar seems
To be fine and the contam jar ive put in a covered spot outside and it seems the mycelium is winning the fight due to high humidity and colder temps there is now less contams visible even after shaking to see. Should I just maybe try spawning it to a shoe box and see if it fruits? I think the original contam came from injecting culture with the lid off and in a SAB that wasn’t sprayed down with soap+water because I had knocc’d up another jar through the airport lid and it’s been fine and already been transferred to other jars.

Just an experiment really and experience to learn whether the turnout is bad or not any thoughts?

Your contaminated jar will almost certainly explode if you try to spawn it to bulk.  You can chuck it in the garden or throw a bit of casing mix/verm/coir/w.e on top and try to fruit it from the jar.  Prolly not getting much.  It's possible you executed a clean g2g from it, but if you have agar, I don't see why you'd waste your time on sketchy shit.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.
Triggered yet?

Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

No, this does not look right...

Quarantine has given me lots of free time.

Also needing to experience different nuances of dedicating my lifestyle to all aspects of mycology (foraging, gourmet, bio efficiency etc) mistakes fall into this as well

If you're determined to spawn it then go ahead.  I had tons of free time when I started and tried everything I had, and my life kinda turned into throwing away tons of moldy shit (from bad bacterial g2g's that looked fine), which can burn you out and take your focus away from agar culturing, which is the most productive thing to do.

I agree and fully believe that Agar is the pinnacle of mycology. I took a few of those grains from
The contam jar and put them on agar as well. You are right that time playing with a jar could be used for experimenting with new nutrients / media ,technique etc

It's mostly a matter of spending your time efficiently.  Doing sketchy g2g's you can easily end up with 10 g2g'd jars in your cupboard, spawn the first, and have it blow up, but all your g2g jars look fine.  You know they're prolly going to blow up too, so you have to ask if you just want to wash the glassware or try to spawn it and have to make sub and prolly wash the tubs too.  Agar gives you the most certainty that you aren't wasting your time.  Taking a few risks if you want fruits ASAP is perfectly acceptable, but if you continue with it, you end up with a ton of stuff in a grey area that you wish you never made.

Best of luck in your endeavors!
