My state actually opened up trout fishing season a bit early, our parks are all open, but since we're under stay at home orders they really don't want people going more than 15 minutes away to go hiking - The AT is closed though. And cops have been pulling people over and issuing tickets to people who are out without cause.
I live right by a very crowded downtown river trail that I avoid like hell, and I'm about 9 days into a 2 week quarantine before I'm headed out to a more rural area with really good access to outdoor recreation for precisely this reason.

So that is how they did it. Some would say their quarantine was much less lengthy then everyone elses.
Actually their quarantine ended sooner because they went on quarantine sooner. Yet for 2 and a half months no one was allowed to go anywhere. So its interesting how people think they are retarded yet the lack of strickness for everyone else will just drag it out and drag it out and drag it out. The USA quarantine is like limbo, you can't go up to heaven and can't just go straight to hell. Well except the hospitals are like hell but you get the metaphor.

In DC most parks are part of the National Park service and apparently they have sent in the troops to enforce the rules. This is a park that has a drum circle on sundays.

Basically yeah but as long as you're not being stupid about it I haven't met a local cop or ranger that is keen on enforcing it.
I've been scratching my head over the closure of the big parks too. I went to the local park and it's too crowded for people to want to adhere to social distancing. But they're like the only parks that are explicitly open and within walking distance.
It seems like the government made some rules and then left that up to everyone else to interpret. When you have different people interpreting the same rules differently... this happens.
But if you're in america I suggest you just try anything that seems like a grey area, again, while not being stupid about it. The worst that will happen is some authority will tell you to go home. The last thing they want to do is put you in their car and then take you to jail just cuz you wanted to drive around or visit a park.

Also don't use this as an excuse to go and crowd parks that are supposedly closed because if a ton of people are going there and chilling in obvious spots and obviously not exercising (hiking, w/e) they will start enforcing it.
The whole thing is these institutions saw the public wasn't taking it seriously so they figured they had to take it seriously for us. Because we're stupid.
Please don't be stupid.

They closed the entire mountain range. You can't go to a fucking 150 year old ghost town that is a multi mile hike to get to. The only option left is to do something stupid.

Well start thinking about where else you can go.
I can guarantee you that at some point the ACLU is going to get involved. Too many people that need to do/get things to manage physical and mental health conditions aren't getting those things and too many poor/black people aren't being given the tools to be informed and understand the seriousness of what's going on or what is and isn't allowed.
Like it's not being blared out on the media but the weakness of our social system is definitely showing.
And it kinda has during every major catastrophe in the last 2 decades. But never on this scale.

Some I understand, like Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon for example -- because they're incredibly busy parks. And big crowds gather at many of the looking points.
But others, like Big Bend National Park (which is closed now due to covid), I don't get at all.
Big Bend it was one of the most remote parks in the US. It's almost 1,300 square miles. I mean I'm no scholar but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that one would be able to social distance pretty well in a park that far out of the way and of that size...

I'll continue to go on hikes outdoors.
I really do no give a fuck considering I'm not coming into contact with anyone.
Just the other day I went to go on a hike around a local area I've been going to for years and there were signs posted about the area being closed . I wasn't hurting anything and wasn't around anyone, so I continued on with my hike.
I don't watch TV or movies at all, I don't play any video games, I don't read books, I don't really talk to anyone...nature and the outdoors is my "life" lol.

But if all the other parks were closed, and Big Bend was open, people would flock to it, and it'd be a circus out there. The place would likely get trashed.

Yeah I don't see the issue at all if we're talking about the more quiet trails. I mean it's outside for fuck's sake. There's no better place in the world to be able to keep a proper social distance than freaking outside. Shit if you see someone coming you can put 50 feet between you and that person if you want to. Now if it's an extremely busy and popular trail that would be different of course.
Hiking on your own though and in a quiet area is one of the safest physical activities you can do these days. I say hike away my friend!

Yeah I guess that's true. If all the other parks or closing then they pretty much have to follow in line I guess.

That's wack as fuck. I do not understand what the reasoning is behind banning the sale of seeds & plants?
Things like that make me start thinking there is something more going on here, thinking about conspiracies & shit lol.
When I'm not allowed to fish...When I'm not allowed to buy seeds and grow my own food...when I'm not allowed to walk around by myself outdoors in nature/wilderness..that's when I start getting very very .
I feel like things here in California are way more chill than other parts of the country ...Or maybe it's because I don't watch any TV/news and don't consume/pay attention to any sort of media so I'm not really "in touch" with the current state of events here. But I'm still able to buy plant seeds, I still go on bike rides, I still go on hikes when I get the chance. This whole thing hasn't really had much of any impact on me/my lifestyle at all yet, until they start closing down the "wilderness" .

That's because there is something way more going on for sure.
It's all about control & taking away freedom. Everthing that people said was going to happen is really happening. Soon it will be cashless society.
