PLEASE HELP! Pan Cyan Overlay Problems!

Anyone have advice for someone growing pan cyans. in 6qt shoeboxes, using a mix of cow/steer poo, verm, and coir that has been cased with jiffy mix?
I'm not sure if the shoeboxes should have a few holes or if they should be placed in a SGFC w/o the lid and left to fruit that way or what! I keep finding mixed/vague answers to this inquiry.
I started with rye berries inoculated with agar wedges and everything appeared fine up until I cased it. When I went spawn to bulk sub., everything went as planned. Perhaps it colonized the bulk quicker than normal but I just figured it was strong myc. Now I have a shit ton of overlay on my jiffy mix casing layer which seemed to happen between 24-48 hours. I had the lid on the 6qt tub snapped shut and all the 1/4" holes taped up so perhaps it was due to limited gas exchange? I have no clue. I'm at a loss and can't seem to find an answer that matches my situation. It definitely wasnt the casing drying out and since I used jiffy mix, I don't imagine it was because the casing had too many nutes.
I'd be so grateful if someone could please offer me some assistance.
This myc is growing like crazy and is gonna be in dire need of an adequate FC really really soon!
Thanks in advance!

Was your spawn and bulk pasteurized or sterilized properly?

Check out this thread and the links in it. Growing pans is similar to cubes in a way but they need a lot more exacting conditions. A SGFC probably isn’t going to cut it.

I hadn’t read mac’s Pan-cake thread before. He apparently uses a sgfc so maybe see if you can make things work with some of that info. If your already overlayed though..

throw it out and start over. it will not fruit and there is no saving it. pans have overlay issues especially jams in my experience. if you do not know what to look for as far as the mycelium on agar you can almost assure to get overlay if your using a cube type look when it comes to mycelium. you want very fine fast wispy type growth. dont even bother trying to waste time on it. just start over trust me. and stay away from sgfc and montotub type fruiting chambers. they dont work for shit. also id stay away from coir also. use a 60% straw 40% horse manure sub. there is a link in my sig with other links to asuras and jakes write ups. there you will find all you need to know. happy reading👍

Update:
I took a blow torch to my knife, sterilized it, and cut off the overlay. It came off SUPER easy down to the exact spot where the casing met the substrate (which was all pasteurized and sterilized properly). I just cut it all off on one tub and re-cased. The other tub actually looked like it has hyphal knots growing from the time i changed the environment to have more FAE and lighting so i let it continue. After a couple days the tub that I recased showed that green sonofabitch trich' so I chucked everything...
The other tub, however, has since started showing pins and even has a nice cluster of fruits maturing... Sure glad I didn't throw it out! Lol! (I typically don't take such hasty measures until I see a reason to toss it, like trich or some other contam that could spread to other tubs)
All it needed was some CO2 exchange/FAE and now it's thriving!
Thanks again, everyone!
