Early pinning
    #26595420 - 04/12/20 10:16 AM (4 years, 9 months ago)

My tub is 80% colonised and I'm getting pins already, do I let it colonise a bit more or shall I just fruit it?

Also could I take a pin and put it on agar and would that produce fruits? I dont want to isolate the pin just to fruit it out for now and then take a clone to isolate ?

Worst picture ever. Take the lid off bro.

It looks fully colonized to me with a too thick top layer of coir

You don't fruit it. It fruits itself. Give it good conditions start to finish

Not always but that ropey-strandy myc can be indicative of bacteria and confused for healthy rhizomorphic growth. the early pinning can be a reproductive hail mary so to speak.

I didnt want to take the lid off as I didnt want to let air in. What I meant about fruiting is allowing more fae. Yeah I put a frosting layer of myc ontop of the mixed substrate and then coco over the top about an inch. I still have bits of sub not colonised.

I put a post up regarding that yesterday. I wanted to know why I have that type of myc. My tub just smells like mushrooms and I cant smell anything sour or sweet. Good to know that too. Do you think I can clone a pin and grow out that on a plate and fruit it without isolating?

Isolating has nothing to do with being able to take a clone and fruit it. Of course you can grow any clone you take.

Your mycelium is from a too thick coir top layer. Its clearly not the thick mycelium from bacteria

Sorry man, what I meant was can I fruit out a clone tissue sample without isolating it and be able to get fruits? I'm gonna go down the road of isolating and testing out the isolates soon but I just wanted to know if I could fruit out a clone sample.

Yes I think my top later of coco is too thick. Do you add a layer over the top of the bulk ? I'll do a thinner layer next run. Thank you for the photos, that's reassured me haha. Glad to have your input BOD

Like i said idk why you even think isolation has anything to do with being able to take a clone and fruit it.

For some reason I thought when you clone you should isolate with that tissue sample and then fruit out each isolate. But like you said I can fruit out a clone without isolating

You can grow any clone at any time.

Isolating is usually referring to just narrowing genetics down to a single set which isn’t necessary.

Also it can take absurdly long to do and is only worth it if you happen to land on awesome genes.
