How is this not the solution to climate change? * 1

Ocean thermal energy conversion

Quote:

Up to 88,000 TWh/yr of power could be generated from OTEC without affecting the ocean’s thermal structure.

OTEC can also supply quantities of cold water as a by-product. This can be used for air conditioning and refrigeration and the nutrient-rich deep ocean water can feed biological technologies. Another by-product is fresh water distilled from the sea.

88,000 TWh/y is about triple current global generation.

It makes electricity, freshwater, fertilizer, cools the overheating oceans, what the hell, mate?  What am I missing here?  How is this not the answer?

Hawaii has a small plant doing this now.

It's double or more what other sources cost. So not yet.

And maybe not at all. Fusion will solve all our problems.
