Need harvest advice!! Also some gratitude to those on this site 1

Somehow I managed to get some actual fruits and somehow they actually look decent. Really didn't anticipate getting this far so I have some questions about harvesting...

They are maturing at crazy different rates and some have gotten huge and the veil has started to break. I work from 6am-6pm tomorrow so I won't be able to harvest anything until the later in the day.
1) since these are all clusters and some veils are breaking should I pick those tonight? Should I cut them? Am I losing anything by just snipping the whole cluster?
I've read a ton and honestly find half the people on here say cut the whole thing off at the stump, and the other half say clip the mature fruits and let the rest mature. My concern is that I work so long tomorrow and don't want to have spores everywhere when I get home (simply for the mess).
2) if I am harvesting just the mature few, how should I store them until I can get enough to do a run with the dehydrator? My apartment is kind of nasty (I'm clean, just the apartments older and shitty) and I've taken ridiculous measures to be sterile so I would hate to have these start growing mold or something before I can dehydrate.
I bought a presto dehydro based on people saying anything works. From information on other posts I'm going to try 9hrs, it has no settings it just runs at 165 when it's plugged in.
Can't believe I actual got fruits, from premade substrate (which so many people say decreases success rate), to syringe to grain spawn bag (echo), to putting in way to much spore solution (😞), this thing has somehow pulled through....100% all because of the information and guidance of this site. Thank you so much!
Been trying to locate some mushies to share the experience with my wife for over two years until I finally said screw it I'll do it myself. Such a daunting task at first but again this site has everything you need.
Next up I'll be trying pasty's agar. Going to try spore printing. Very impressed this mycelium was able to power through all the mistakes I made along the way, would like to take it with me.
Sorry for the run on, but the gratitude is real and deep. Thank you!

Those look like you have a day or two left on them.
With big clusters like that if some are way ahead I’ll just cut the caps off the mature ones so spores don’t get everywhere, then the other ones can catch up.
Looks like you’ll have some nice mushrooms soon.

Wow those PVC ports are awesome! What's the one higher threaded one for? Does that have poly in it?
Those definitely have a bit more time, since you're able to get a good angle on them, you want to see the veil starting to stretch before you harvest. You can either grab the base and twist, or you can snip them close to the base. Dealer's choice. You can store wet fruits in tupperware in your fridge. You can rinse them off then pat dry with towel/paper towel then tupperware, or just straight into tupperware and into the fridge. Once the shrooms come out, as long as the tub isn't contaminated, you're probably cleaner than your average commercial grow, so you can keep those freshies in the fridge for a week or more, rinsed or not!
For the drying, just toss them in that dehydrator until they look crip, then give them a pinch and if they're hard, or if they crumble, they're good. Cracker dry, they'll crack and crumble when they're ready. You don't have to dry them though, if you plan to eat them soon, you can just leave them in the fridge, then eat them like you would any other mushroom, on a salad or dipped in ranch is a great snack to start a trip with! Just remember, when drying they get to ~10% of starting weight, so use that to judge your dosage

Thanks, I know it's overkill haha that one is hooked up to a humidifier that I have to keep humidity up. Still need to mist and fan but it's pretty dry here so it helped with humidity. Used the PVC so I could cap off for colonization but not it doesn't seem so necessary as I've been advised going straight to fruiting is the popular mindset here. But at minimum they help to keep the polyfil contained and out of the mushrooms.
Thanks for the response on the harvest! Is this what you mean by stretching out? Or is it like when the mushroom head started opening up?

I'll just toss em in the fridge when pick em then! Appreciate the advice. I'll probably cut them, I feel like I'd be an idiot and rip the whole cluster out.
Also I've never had fresh mushrooms, but it's on my list now after reading about the difference in experience!

You can throw any you harvest into a bag and refrigerate them until you have an amount worth dehydrating. I would be looking more at 18 hours to dehydrate than 9, although for a small amount that might not be necessary. If you ever fill it up, don't be afraid to go 24 hours.
In general, cheap dehydrators work just as good as expensive ones, they just burn out sooner.

If you're going to put them in a bag wet and into the fridge I'd use a paper bag

Came home on my lunch and bam!!
Are these ones ready to get cut? The ones that are pretty open? One is smashing against the roof of the mono so I'd like to get it out of there haha

Yeah that whole corner cluster in the second pic is ready, and a couple other open ones.
You can usually tell by cap color too, the tall one in the first pic is at the perfect spot, not totally open yet.

So did I do okay? Was that terrible? Got down as far as I could.
Also, I know aborts are normal, but is there anything I should be watching with some of them? Don't know if they show up on the photos.

Nice looks good.
You can twist and pull the whole cluster out. Or I’d at least get a knife and cut that big stump off.
The bottom left cluster looks ready also.
And most of the rest will probably be ready tonight.
Just check the veil
