Drying fatties?

So in the past I've always used a dehydrator with a heating element, but I recently got one and dismantled the heater on it...Might have been a bad idea. I now have some thick fat shrooms that refuse to dry up in the dehydrator. How should I go about dealing with these? Exchange the DH for a new one? Any quarantine-able DIY set ups? My RH throughout my house is around 35-40% currently...

Get a new dehydrator. How come u took the heater out of the other one?
I have used lamp drying for fatties. Takes about two days but does work.

I envy your RH, I walked in earlier and my thermostat measured 70.
You can always slice the fatties in half and dry them in a dehydrator.

You can split em down the stipe until the cap separates and it becomes two halves.

Yeah I alway have to rip the stem of big PE in half or the outside dries into a shell and the inside takes forever.
There’s always the oven method until you can get a new one.

Yea I used my oven at 175*F on convection for about 2 hours to dry some thickuns yesterday, it worked alright but I'm worried about loss in potency...

I took the heater out because of that old argument of oh, heat hurts the potency, but then there's the whole 'well if it takes a week to dry the extra air hurts potency' argument and yadda yadda...Clearly I should have just stuck with the heat lol

You have to get over like 350 degrees to degrade the psilocybin.
People boil shrooms for tea all the time.
Leaving them out wet and oxidation is the biggest threat.

Yea in the past I always used heat on my dehydrators but oh well, it was time for a new one anyways! Thank you for setting my mind at ease

I leave mine on 165F for at least 10 hours if it’s average fruits but fatties get 12-14 hours....my buddy was impressed at the ease he ground them up in his bud grinder the other day. I have a bigger dehydrator now, the smaller one I had struggled with bigger fruit because it would leave gaps between the trays whereas my new to me one has up to 9 trays and is enclosed.
