How often to mist monotub?
    #26591075 - 04/10/20 01:17 PM (3 years, 9 months ago)

I have a RH meter in my monotub, which has no holes in it, so I position the top of it under an angel, so there is some FAE. I also have a Co2 meter, in order to know when to fan it (I fan using the cover of the box when it gets to about 1500-2000 ppm).

I notice that after fanning the humidity in the box drops dramatically to about 60%, unsuprisingly after giving it a couple of squirts from the mister, it goes up to 80-90.

Current RH outside is 30-40%.

The way things are going, I will have to mist after every fanning which happens about every 2h, or even more frequently than that.

Will that not accumulate too much water in the substrate?

Should I stick to once a day misting? RH is not as important as FAE right?

You dont need to fan and mist when it needs it. Use search engine and look up proper surface conditions

I don't need to fan and mist when it needs it? Not sure I understand. I think my main problem is, that I don't have holes in the box and there is little moving air in the flat. Would it help to leave the box mostly uncovered at night? Currently, I need to fan every 30min it seems to keep the co2 below 1500ppm which seems ridiculous.

I think it was meant to be: You don't need to fan, and (only) mist when it needs it...

I don't think those meters will be useful for you. Learning when to mist to maintain proper surface conditions is something you just have to get a feel for. To my understanding, fanning  is used in PF tek and not with monotubs.

Dont just mist when it "needs it". Reduce or adjust FAE if  youre having to mist too much as well.
