Rye Berries, clarification and translation.
    #26588099 - 04/09/20 06:10 AM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Hey!
I need some quick help sorting this out.
I live in a non English speaking country and have found a cheap place to buy my rye that I will use as spawnsub.

However, I got to options. Translated :

Pointed Rye (ACUMINATE) the info I got was that these ones would be impossible to germinate.

Unpointed Rye. These ones would be possible to germinate and grow. They also had a  shorter best before date.

I hope someone knows the difference even if my translated word isn't right.

Which one of the ryes is preferd? They are both from the same organic farmer.

Welcome!

There must be some translation issue as ive never heard of "pointed" or "unpointed" rye. Perhaps its "winterized" and "non-winterized" rye?

Yeah, sometimes some words are hard to find the commen and correct translation.

I have a picture.
The only difference should be that one of them have the "germ" removed.

You want the whole grain with the germ.

Aha, there we go!
Eazy awnser but a little hard to explain. I have noticed that translations from a language spoken by kind of few people can be difficult sometimes  reeding and understanding English is fine but to translate uncommon word correct and relevant can be such a pain in da butt

I see it now. Yeah get with the germ inside. More nutrients that way.
