UPDATE! and questions!

So the above petri dishes are looking like this now:

However, the best looking plate I have is a transfer I did 15 days ago after I hotpoured the very first plate in the thread:

So for the questions:
- The first two plates, do we have anything good there?
- Even if its not contam, is it even worth keeping them? they look very weak to me, especially considering how strong, thick and fast the third plate is.
- The third plate... its myc right? Im thinking of nocking up more plates with it and also noccing some wildbirdseeds.

Looks like MS plates to me. You might store them to clone the fruit when they pin.

Yes, A.k.a also said that those were MS. So even the first two plates are viable in your opinion?

They are not very viable to transfer to grain. They are viable to transfer to more agar and to wait for pinning.

I'll admit, I've put plates like that to grain in the past and they produced usable spawn. It was slightly bacterial, but there were fruits

So the last plate, Im thinking of taking a transfer from it to agar. But also take a bit of it to grain also. Just for the fun of it because I have wanted to grow something for a very long while now

Like Im not even sure if Ill try mushrooms yet, but I have sooo wanted to grow it.

Ok guys so I have an update.

I transferred the agar container (not petri) agar plate to WBS seeds (using foomans tek)and got the following results:

IMO the grains are looking good for being nocced 6 days ago.

However, I went back to check up on the plate from which I transferred and it looked weird as shit! It used to be all white and looking typical MS with mycelium growing all over the place (just see the post above). But I checked it out today and it has some weird bumpy appearance with some yellow spots (not there when I nocced the grain):

FML Im guessing this transfer still is bacterial? Whats worse is that I nocced the grains with it....

The jars bacterial but if it finishes colonizing it’ll prob still work. I’ve run tons of bacterial jars no problem. Only if they still hit full colonization though.

Hi A.k.a, do you mean the jar is bacterial because of how the original agar turned out or you can already see that the jar is bacterial?

From the way the myc looks in the jar.

Learning what healthy grain spawn looks like was the hardest thing for me, you really just have to do a ton of jars and develop an eye for it.

With bacteria the most obvious things are wet spots and bald spots on grains.
When there’s a grain partially colonized then all of a sudden it stops and there’s a clear line that’s from bacteria.

The pics a little fuzzy so I could be wrong but you’ll know for sure either way in a couple days.

ok good to know. Ive seen many bacterial jars in forums and I think I recognize the most obvious signs, like slimy, a clear line where the myc seems not to be able o push through, wet etc. The more subtle signs I have to develop an eye for like you said.

I shook it real hard right after inoculation. Read on a thread that, this would make colonization go faster as you get many points from which myc can spread.
