Weird blurs
    #26589226 - 04/09/20 04:31 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Hey,

I'm in my mid twenties, Canada. Started to do shrooms when I was 16 or 17. Stopped when I was 18. I grew ny own cubensis, had some great, meaninful trips and also a few exhausting, difficult ones.

I've experienced, for the past 5 years or so, weird, blurru moments. I feel a lot of the time floating, a bit disconected from reality, like on a mild weed high. Sometimes, it's so blurry i feel between narcolepsy and paranoia. It's worse when I'm tired, though. Is it something a lot of folks experience? I don't know exactly when it started. But I feel it could have some sort of connexion with the moment when I started doing  shrooms regularly, in my late teens.
I might as well be making it up a little bit. I'm just wondering if any of you guys had similar stories. I don't have the healthiest lifestyle. It might be related, I don't know, I'm really clueless on this.

Thanks

Yeah you may have hppd, for me I can see the visuals of a mushroom trip all the time but it is relatively mild and i have actually learned to enjoy it. If you want it to go away stop using all drugs for awhile and you should be back to normal

You have no idea really what is going on with you, or when it started... but, you think probably the shrooms?

Have you been to see a doctor regarding your symptoms?

Either way, lay of the drugs, even pot. Fix your lifestyle, and work out a bit. It’s probably the 2 liter of soda and Doritos everyday. Lol

Ask your pcp about hppd,  also, the advice given already is basically “be/get-n stay healthy” which is true, it helps.  Meds can help, but it’s better best to first really really try and live responsibly and in good health and hygiene before meds usually because depending on which class is used, one can become physically and or psychologically dependent on them and some can cause addiction (some), leading to a painful withdrawal syndrome when abruptly stopped.  So keep that in mind and in question if you do seek pro help.  I find some ppl to learn to adapt to it in a way where the brain readjusts to it as normal over time until it no longer is flaring up because it’s been overridden.

For ex.  Your nose is always in your line of sight, but your brain sort of blocks it out of the picture with a cool little trick/illusion,  but it will be visible if you look for it in your line of sight near the face - for a bit atleast.  Hppd can work similarly

Hppd, depending on the severity, can also go away on its own or persist, or stop and come back because of various variables.

Stress, insomnia-lack of sleep, high blood pressure, most but a few of the major classes of drugs, anxiety, and nicotine and caffeine all can play a role of making hppd worse.

Eating well, sobriety, good sleep hygiene, exercise and equanimous affect or just good psychological health and body and general adaptation plus a few skillful means can help one live with, diminish, or cease hppd symptoms.

i've gotten that feeling too but... the thing is, i've always had that feeling, even as a youngin. in fact, it's something i had a lot when i was younger, often when i was pretending things. for instance, i remember after reading a book about a lady that had a house that was designed to be upside down, i would sometimes imagine what it would be like if my room was upside-down, where my roof was the ground and my floor was the ceiling - sometimes i'd get the floaty, disconnected feeling then. (often when i would pull off the perspective trick and it would actually seem like i was upside downish.)

or when i would imagine faces or images in the popcorn texture of the ceiling, similar to how you do so with images in the clouds, or how i'd listen, really listen, to a song and let the music carry me away and try and let it "tell me" what the writer was trying to convey, the kind of scene and feeling.

as i got older that feeling went away... but so did my imagination. my dreams took on a sort of "obsessiveness", a sort of angst and pining for what i can't have, a need to escape, rather than the constructive daydreaming of what could be of my childhood. tripping snapped me out of that - and that floaty feeling sometimes comes back, but so does that daydreaming. i feel the two are connected.

incidentally, i've noticed my dreams have, on rare occasions, veered to the almost lucid lately. three times now i've been hit with an overwhelming feeling of an element, the first time with a powerful wind and a beautiful song that nearly tore me out of my body (i could actually feel myself starting to lift out, and the typical unpleasant suffocating sensation you get when you first start to astral plane, which distracted me out of it... but not before my left astral leg started to fly upward lol), a powerful river that started to drift me off, and a void that slowly resolved into a dream that i was starting to control before i remembered i had to work and i got worried about being late and woke myself up to check the time. (i had 3 hours to spare. -,-)

not sure what it means, though i will say in all cases, there was no sense of menace - just a sense of immense, but gentle power. that was definitely a new experience though - i have a newfound empathy for people who experience phantom limb pain, having had a taste of what a phantom limb feels like, and feeling it in a different position than your actual limb. first time i ever had two left legs before LOL.
