Do you assume the direction of the air to be the origin point of the air at the inlet, or outward from the arm holes, or some curved path between. I'd be curious to know a bit more about your sterile technique within it.
Also hey Psilosopherr
Its definitely a curvey windy path out of the box but if you wipe your hands and gloves with alcohol your fine I essentially just base it off of if the spores were loose enough to fall off my hands and clothing into it then the positive pressure from the filter will blow any loose spores off my arms as I enter the box blowing them out of the box I haven't ever had any problems this way just a good old wipe down and basic sterile tech

Yeah it works for me and it's my main tool to have helped me succeed bringing much beautiful fungi to life so I figured I'll just take the shit I get for it and post it incase it could help one person with a sterile place to work.

Same I like to stay as simple as possible trust me if I could get away with a sab I would but this works for me best so I figured I'd share my results.

So say you're opening an agar plate, is the surface of the plate facing toward the arm holes (with the back of the container/petri getting hit with the clean air) or more into the flow of of the clean air (air blowing at the actual agar surface?)
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

I just hold it up with my left hand so my hand is on the opposite side as the air flow when holding the plate but I hold it straight up!

It's mainly that I like to work fast and do like 30 jars in the several hours I have after work about once every week or so and when i work super quick in a sab it gets sloppy and shit gets stirred up and it gets contaminated because of lack on my end for slow and steady sterile procedure so I just prefer to use this as any shit that would be stirred up in the sab by moving quick and sloppily is blown out by the clean pressure prior to me working. It gives me just enough time to drink a beer after work while it flushes then do the jars. It's not that I couldn't make a sab work it's just this works better for how I prefer to work

Very cool. Sorta like a hybrid design. I like it!

I hated the normal sab and the results from it. Especially trying to use agar in it. 20% of everything I did was contaminated no matter how perfect my technique was. I bought a series one flowhood back when they were $500 and I never had a problem again. So I'm glad you shared your design here and that it's working for you.

Exactly I like it more then the sab cause I don't have to worry about losing a decent chunk of my spawn to contams it works for me great but some day I'll upgrade to a flow hood when I have more space. Can't wait till that day

I'd love if you could continue posting your results. How many flushes are you getting before losing the sub?

I'll definitely post some more results I normally just don't have any time but the last 27 at mino mono I made with just coco coir and grain flushed 3 times and yielded somewhere around 120 ish grams and it didn't contam it just stopped flushing enough to keep it around so I ditched it
