First time trying wbs soak plus agar. 500ml wbs soak and 10g agar agar. Let it sit over night eeven and still didn't solidify. Even extra i put in the fridge. What could be possibilities of why? Gonna scrap this batch and go back to a honey batch for now.
Edit: I also ran it through a 20 min pc run and poured it into my dishes.

Update. It maaay have smelled a bit sour. Would the wbs soak have to be super fresh? I had a jug in the fridge for about a week or so.

Sometimes the agar does not mix well with the water.
Heat solves that problem.
WBS tea will go sour but IDK how long it will keep.

Are you saying you put agar in whatever you were soaking your wbs in?

Did you bring the soak water and agar to a good full boil for a couple minutes? im betting it just wasn't combined correctly.

i combine the water and agar cold, and give it a stir.
it wont solidify until it is processed by heat
if it doesn't solidify or gel up at all, after processed by heat, you got a dud batch

Did you let the PC get to 15 psi before you set the 20 min clock?
Was the WBS liquid cold before going into PC?
Also do you have a photo of the agar agar package?

Yup. I heat it to boil wait 10 min put weight down wait for it start hissing consistently then start timer then let it cool to 47° before pouring.
Hmmmmm i did mix it the day before and popped it in the fridge overnight.
I have used the agar agar quite a bit before with no issues till now. Ill get a pic of it.

What is in the WBS solution?
I'm not sure what's going on. Try preheating it in the microwave until right before it starts to foam, then mix and repeat 2-3 times before you PC them.
Keep us updated.

I would test the pH of your wbs tea, agar at standard rates will not gel well at a low pH after autoclaving, if your tea is at a pH of 4 or lower you will certainly have problems with gelling after autoclaving.

Ohhhhh great thought. Sour smell usually does mean acid too. I wonder if i put a bit of my gypsom in it it may work! Ill do a test of both today! Thank you!

So interesting outcome. The gypsum solidified and the microwave half solidified. Hahahahaha. Thanks for all your help on this one. I was stumped.
