How to DISPOSE OLD MONOTUB SUBSTRATE?

I always question on what the best way to dispose of finished mycelium and substrate is. I want to do it in a way that is practical and so no one will find it and get me in trouble. any suggestions on discrete ways of disposing old monotub substrate?

I've read of people mixing substrates with water in a five gallon bucket and flushing that shit down a toilet.

Compost bins, pretty large sized compost bins
I have 6 of these in my backyard

You can just build them though for cheaper , like so

Never heard of people flushing subs, thats a new one for me! Sounds plausible unless you are working with serious bulk then it just seems like a major pain in the ass and huge waste of water since 1 monotub probably takes multiple flushes

That's a good way to back up your plumbing lol.
I used to just throw them into trash bags and leave them in the dumpster or trash can. Unless you're worried about people digging through your trash, that's probably the easiest way.
Now that I'm finally moving into my first house this month (woo), I'm probably just gonna start burying them around the backyard and see if anything grows. Easy way to get a few more fruits for doing nothing if you live in the right climate.

This year I tilled a bunch of old subs in my garden. I'm planning on putting the new spent subs in between the rows of my plants with grass clippings and yard stuff covering them. Idk if I'll yield anything from them but they can't hurt the soil.

Put them into a compost pile/tumbler or a worm farm. Worms love that stuff.
Mushroom compost/spent substrate is also sold to be added to potting soil or standard soil to add nutrients and hold water so you could stretch your soil further doing it that way.

I use to break them up (less chance of getting something to grow fruits out that will draw attention) and mix it with cat litter that I scooped out of the litter box.. no one is digging through that literal shit.. then throw em in some random dumpster

I bury them in a shady spot in the backyard. Usually find a random patch within a few weeks. Before having a backyard I would just break them up really well in the trash can the same day it was being picked up.

When i lived in an apartment i threw them in the dumpster in black trash bags. Used white trash bags for normal trash so if i threw out both together it wouldnt look like it obviously came from the same person.
Now i live somewhere that i can just throw out back near the trees

I'm the one who does the soak in water in a bucket then down the toilet but there is more to it than that and it has to be done just right to get it to a consistency that wont clog up the pipes.

Man I worked at a water treatment facility and please for the love of god don't flush spent sub down the toilet. You are literally asking for trouble and causing alot of trouble down the line, if it isn't an organic biological material, piss, shit, or toilet paper it doesn't belong in the toilet.

It's just some dirt and grains and small mushroom pieces...no different than what storm drains and people with garbage disposals and all these restaurants flush down the drain everyday. I'm able to get it to the consistency What I would basically call rice soup. I only flush it down one scoop at a time...it's not going to hurt anything.

If you have the option to pile up spent sub and let it compost a while I highly recommend it. Great soil additive. There's some people down the road from me with vegetable greenhouses that beg for it in the spring

Soak it all in 50/50 water and h202 and drain out the green water. Rinse with regular water 3 or 4 times in till the green water goes back to clear water. Then dump it outside in a shady hole.
You can do this without the soaking but if you can maximize your mycelium/contamination_then you greater the chances for the outdoor flush

I let them pile up in the back yard, chopped up, let a month or two go by then wheelbarrow the compost to spread over the garden beds.
After a month or two it just looks like dirt/compost.
This is I think the third thread this week asking this question.

I don't think you're doing that by soaking it in peroxide. You're just making myc weaker to fight against whatever contam it runs into outside.

I'd say compost like most others. If you don't have a garden though you could always fill a trash bag and dump it late night at your woodsy smoke spot or hiking trail, obviously break it up. If you're just trying to dispose, I know of people that stock up bags of weed stuff and take them all out when the garbage truck is rolling down the block. Local dump/transfer station is easy, might be a lil pricey, but not more than $20-40 if you have truck bed filled or less, and that is 100% safe disposal.

Dirt and stuff from storm drains, aka grey water, doesn't go through the same water treatment as human waste does. Trust me man there is alot of stuff that is found being flushed down the toilet, the first year I worked I think I personally found 10 flip flop sandles, underwear, tampons, condoms literally a whole mess of stuff in the decant tanks. And just because you don't see what happens to it doesn't mean it just disappears, there are people who have to deal with it after you. Not trying to ride you but that rice soup consistancy sub you flush down the toilet plugs up the material screens and doesn't break down like human waste. You do you but I'm a pretty considerate person so I do try and look out for my neighbors too. Even if I don't see them.

Compost, bury it, throw it away in yard waste bags. If you're somewhere where you pay for garbage and there's a separate program for yard waste, do NOT throw it in your regular garbage or recycling. There are weeks that they check the bins, especially during the summer/fall looking for people throwing out yard waste in their bins (trying to give you a fee for this, have had it happen to me with grass clippings...). If you buy the yard waste bins, bags, whatever, just toss your substrate in those with some leaves, grass clippings, dirt, loose coir, whatever and you're good.

Job security for waste water treatment facilities is people using water in their homes, inconveniencing somebody to have to wade through sewage and get material off the catch screens is a pita. Never personally done that but iv seen it done and it didn't look fun. Why do you think you shouldn't flush fat, grease, medications/drugs down the toilet, cuz it makes a big mess, regular food ok the microbes eat that stuff but coir and verm won't digest and then it has to be hauled away to farms and fields. And don't you think its wasteful to be flushing your toilet who knows how many times to get it all down. And idk how a flip flop could make it through a toilet but they do lol. I cant make you stop but I can advise against it. Good luck.

Yeah I know all these details and good looking out on your part. I just don't have other options atm. I won't set it on the curb, I'm not driving it anywhere. But I'm buying a house in the country this summer then I can bury it, compost it, roll around naked in it in my yard...whatever I want
