Nothing special.  Just look at logs lol.  For real tho, it's just about knowing which logs to look closer at.

Thanks a bunch!  Hopefully the other areas will be doing the same thing.

Any more luck down your way?

That only happens with that phenotype. I’m not even convinced they are the same species.

Seriously, they are so different from what I've found, which is surprising because I don't think you and I are too far away from TS.  I want to travel north and give it a shot but 1) not during a pandemic and 2) hard to justify when I have a spot within 15 minutes.

I have had my suspicion about this for awhile i was hoping to send samples of a few different phenotypes for dna sequencing not sure how to go about it. Some of the ovoid variations i find definitely have characteristics that could lead one to belive they are a different species.

I have found them on logs but only whem they are half buried never more than 2 inches above the soil like galerina grow

A friend found 2 tiny pins in his back yard today in my area. Central pa is on the map though it will be a few days until they start popping here.

That happens with the other phenotype as well.  Relic can confirm that they grow like that in VA.  It's just a matter of knowing where to look, that's all.

Are you finding ostrich Fern (fiddleheads) near ovoids? Lots of boxelder floodplain has them.

I’ve been doing this for 11 years and I’ve never seen it. If it happens it is extremely rare. There is no doubt these two strains behave very differently.

Have you ever seen the Susquehanna phenotype grow in man made mulch?

Every floodplain is a box elder floodplain. Box elder is the most common tree in this area.

I hunt right on the susquehanna and I have a mulch pit they grow in.
